Random 5 Friday

I won't officially link up with the Random 5 Friday gang, but do like the idea, and have enjoyed reading the random 5s of some of you!

  • I had lunch today, with my friend Shirley. Cindee was to join us, too, but she got word that her dad has to have surgery, so she is off to the northwest on a  plane this afternoon, instead. Prayers for her dad are being lifted!  He fell and hit his head pretty hard.
  • I am seeing a new surgeon on Monday, because I don't really care for the surgeon I was "assigned" at the Women's Center last week. Just didn't connect with her. Have to feel good about the person who will be cutting you, don't you agree?
  • I finished my financial reports for June and am just tidying up things so I can send my trial balance off to the auditors next week. The load has been lifted, that's for sure!
  • I need to go to the grocery (Publix) tonight. I have made a shopping list of things needed to make some of the recipes that have been posted on Blogger this week (and FB). I have resolved to cook dinner every night next week. We go out to eat way to much. We'll see how long my resolve lasts!
  • We have three vacancies at work, and just made an offer to a woman for one of the positions. She accepted!! We interviewed seven people for the position in Visitor Services.  I have her paperwork sitting on my desk, waiting for her to pick it up. Feels good to have one of the positions filled.  If any of you are experienced fund raisers and would like to move to Florida, send me your resume please. The other vacancy is in our education department. Requires a teaching certificate and/or an art history background with an interest in Museum work.
That's my random five. I wish you all a good weekend!  Thanks for stopping by! Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I admire your plans for cooking all week. It is so hot and I have no energy to cook right now. We usually have one meal out at noon and eat cereal or a sandwich for supper.

I hope you can rest this weekend.

  2. I absolutely agree about finding the right doctor. I would do the same thing. Glad the financial reports are behind you. I too admire you for wanting to cook every evening...at least one of us likes to cook..lol Have a good Friday evening and weekend. Since I dont have a teaching certificate or even like history much, guess I better stay put! lol Hugs

  3. It's very important to have confidence in your doctor. Please let us know if you discover any worthwhile recipes. You know I've been disappointed in a couple I've tried from facebook, so I don't save very many of them. I have to say, as if I haven't said it enough already, I miss Multiply because people shared some very good recipes there.

I've been making myself smoothies for breakfast, because with the heat I'm not very hungry in the morning (or any other time really) because I think it's important to have a bit of breakfast. Yesterday I was looking at a recipe on the internet, but saw the recipe was very similar to the one I make only I don't add honey as it's sweet enough for me. I was going to put spinach in like I normally do except I didn't have any so I used corn salad (lamb's lettuce) instead. Had to look for the translation in English. Do you know it? Anyway, when I got finished blended mine, it had green specks in it like hers did. One of her readers suggested she get a Vitamix. I looked at the prices on Amazon and said no way was I going to pay that much money for the famous Vitamix.

  5. I agree.... you need to have a good relationship and confidence in that person who is cutting into you.
I hope your friend's father will be alright.
I do my shopping list each week with 3 or 4 of our favorite recipes in mind, one meal that would be super fast to throw together for those busy days, then 2 new recipes. I hope your dinner plans this next week is successful. If you find any new recipes I'd love to hear about it. I had intentions of posting recipes on here but I've slipped. I've collected quite a few from FB but I won't share them until I've had a chance to try them first. When the weather cools down, I plan to do just that and share some of my successes.
    You have a great weekend.

  6. I hope you can cook all week. It's been too hot here to cook so we've been having a lot of sandwiches.

I agree on surgeon. You have to like them.
    Enjoy your weekend!

  7. I'm glad you're searching for a surgeon that you feel comfortable with, I agree, it is important.

I cook most of our meals now. We eat out on occasion but not nearly as often as we used to simply because we cannot afford to. I usually cook a family sized meal for our large meal of the day and the next day we use the leftovers from that for lunch. Hubby's schedule has never been regular for meal times, so at noon, this makes it easy for us to heat and eat as necessary plus I don't have to cook two meals in a day. Since it's just the two of us now, I can cook up two or three meals easily enough and not have to cook for several days in a row if we don't have company.

  8. It sounds like it's been a very good week for you with some things wrapping up at work. Good for you with requesting another doctor. You are paying for the services so are entitled to spend your money in a way that makes you comfortable. Yes, you are correct that healing will be better if you have good rapport and peace of mind. Emotional issues affect us physically. Sometimes God uses "negatives" to move us to where He really wants us to be.
Thirteen years ago, when my mom was in a hospital after cardiac surgery and was having kidney failure, we told her main doctor in that group that we did NOT want a certain one of his associates seeing my mom. She - - also my sister and I - - - were not comfortable with the woman's lack of people skills. She was condescending to us. Maybe she needed a course in public relations and maybe she was a superb doctor but we never had good "visits" from her. We had enough to deal with at the time without another stressor.
