Sunday is almost over....

This weekend has just flown by, with our Sunday nearly over.  I have sure enjoyed these two days, though!

Today started late, too, but I didn't sleep in as long as yesterday.  I made us a nice breakfast, did a little cleaning (very little), and got the laundry started.  You will always see laundry in my Sunday blogs!

We decided to go to the movies this afternoon, and we saw The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp.  He is good in whatever role he takes on!  We really enjoyed the movie, and were very surprised that the theater was totally filled. I think there might have been two seats way down in the front row that were empty.  It was great, and I recommend it, if you enjoy Johnny Depp and/or like westerns.  It was actually much better than we thought it would be, after seeing some of the reviews.  I would suggest that you go without comparisons to the old Lone Ranger TV series, though.  Preconceived notions will go right out the window!!

We had sweet corn and hot dogs for dinner. Have you tried the new Angus Hot dogs yet? They are quite tasty!  The fresh corn on the cob was really good, too.

The cheesecake I made yesterday is yummy.  Joe is thrilled with it, and I even enjoyed it (I'm not a big cheesecake fan).  I promised the recipe, so it follows.  It is very lite, not too sweet and can be eaten with any flavor pie filling or fruit you want. Joe even ate a piece with no fruit and loved it plain. So easy to make!

No-Bake Cheesecake:

8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. cool whip
Graham Cracker Pie Crust

Beat together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Fold in the cool whip. Spoon the filling into the pie crust and cool for at least two hours.  Spread the top with your favorite pie filling or fresh fruit and serve!

(I opened a can of cherry pie filling (Joe's favorite) and blueberry (which I like). Spooned on our favorite as we got our slice on a saucer.

Really easy, and quite tasty.  I'm sure you could use low-fat cream cheese, and sugar-free cool whip if you want to cut some of the fat and calories.

Wishing everyone a good week ahead! Thanks for stopping by! Peace, love & hugs.

    1. We would not have even tried to see Grown Ups 2. Not our kind of movie. But we loved the Loan Ranger, too! And not ONE swear word in it!

  3. I love westerns and Johnny Depp and how I loved The Lone Ranger when I was little! Your no-cook cheesecake recipe sounds a bit different from the one I've made. I like real whipped cream and not the Cool Whip kind. Natural is better for me. I don't think my recipe called for whipped cream though.

    1. The Southern Lady's recipe calls for sweetened condensed milk and lemon juice, no Cool Whip.

    2. Brenda, I know it would be much richer using real whipped cream, and I had to buy the cool whip for the recipe, because we don't normally use Cool Whip...it is all artificial. I'll have to see if I can find the Southern Lady's recipe, though Joe told me to never lose this one and to not change it! LOL

  5. Mmmm looks yummy. I will have to try it. Glad you both liked it.
I haven't seen the LR but wanted to. I was surprised that it was called a bomb.
    Have a great day!

  6. I dont go to movies any more...used to, but just dont now. However, the cheesecake recipe draws my immediate attention! Murphy makes incredible cheesecakes and I almost burned that habit out when he had his restaurant. Maybe now I need to teach him this recipe, so he can keep me 'cheesy' again! Happy Monday.

  7. The weekend went by too fast for us too. I often wish Sunday's were a little longer. :)
The cheesecake recipe looks very good and easy to whip up. I love cheesecake so I'm going to keep this in my recipe collection. Thank you for sharing it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I've seen a couple of Depp's movies but I can't say I'm a fan. I have seen the previews and it does look good.
I hope you have a good week ahead.

  8. Looks delicious, Terri. My problem with any kind of cheesecake is knowing when to stop. It's so easy to walk past that pie plate and cut just one more little sliver...

  9. The cheesecake looks so yummy! Thanks for posting the recipe! I am going to put The Lone Ranger on my must see list! We saw Grown Ups 2 this weekend and it was entertaining but I would recommend you wait until it comes out on DVD. I thought Grown Ups 1 was much better.
