My major award arrived today!!

I am not a lucky person when it comes to winning things. Rarely is my number drawn for anything.  BUT, my luck changed a couple of weeks ago, when my blogging friend Sandie, encouraged me to participate in one of the drawings on her blog site.  It was for a lovely set of sea salts.  I won, I won!!  And the sea salts arrived in the mail today!  I can't wait to try them.  Thanks to Sandie for hosting such great drawings on her site! Check it out, if you aren't already connected:  http://chattycrone.blogspot.com

(I've been trying all evening to post a photo of the salts, and I am not getting it done for some reason. Sorry!)

Today is HodgePodge Wednesday. Here are my answers to the questions:

1. What's something people might ask you for help with?
At work, I get asked accounting questions. At home, Joe is always asking me for help with something – LOL!  At church, it is usually to bring food, or help organize an event. I have to admit that I have learned to say no.

2. What's something you might ask someone else for help with?
Most often is has to do with a computer problem.

3.  Did your family take summer vacations when you were a child? If so, where did you go? If you're a parent, did/do you plan summer vacations with your own family? Did/do they resemble those you took as a child?
Yes, and I have so many good memories of our fishing vacations. My dad loved to fish, so every summer we rented a cabin at Nina’s Camp, on Rice Lake, in Ontario, Canada.  We went for two weeks, and always stopped at Niagara Falls on the way up. Since my ‘kids’ were young men – 16 and 20 – when I came into their lives (and them into mine), we did not do fishing vacations. Joe hates to fish. Their perfect vacation was to the Jersey Shore, and I did get to enjoy a vacation there with them once, before we moved to Florida.  Now the boys come here for their vacations.

4.   Pool-lake-ocean...which one is most appealing to you on a hot summer day?
I grew up on Buckeye Lake, in central Ohio, but do love the beach. However, the beach is an hour away, and we have a pool right outside our back door, so that is where you can find me on a hot summer weekend day.

5.  Have you ever justified using the expression, 'you gotta be cruel to be kind'?  Was it really necessary or were you rationalizing?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard that expression. Maybe it refers to “tough love”, and if that is the case, then yes, I had to be tough. It really was necessary, and has all worked out for the best.

6.  The
Journal of Psychology recently mentioned the results of a survey identifying the ten most hated foods as-liver, lima beans, mayonnaise, mushrooms, eggs, okra, beets, brussel sprouts, tuna, and gelatin.  Of those foods, how many do you actually hate? Anything you'd add to the list? I do not like okra, and refuse to eat it. I will also not eat oysters or snails.  Everything else on that list, I really like!  LOL

7. What's your favorite book or movie set in a beach or lake town?
“The Lake House” with Keanu Reeves, , .  Now I have to pull out the DVD and watch it again.  Full of intrigue.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I had my MRI and EKG today. The MRI was uncomfortable because of the position I had to hold for 35 minutes. My arms were asleep when it was done, and I felt like I could only take shallow breaths or I would move and mess up the images. I was so glad when it was over! Now I have to wait for the results.  What will be, will be. I will keep you posted!

Thanks for stopping by my page!  Hump day is nearly over and it's downhill to the weekend now!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Congrats on your win. I have seen she has something every week, just never entered. May have to now. Praying the results of your MRI and EKG are both normal as apple pie. Sleep good tonight dear friend.

  2. I'm never lucky in anything either. No, I take that back... I did win a coffee grinder at a fund raiser once. Congratulations on your win.
I'm also praying that your MRI and EKG results will be good news.
The Lake House is one of my favorites too.

  3. Congratulations on your win! Sandie is the best! Okra was on my hate list as a kid, but now I do love some good fried okra. I hear you on the MRI. Those are hard. Looking forward to hearing your good test results.

  5. I think the title of my favourite film around water, because I don't remember a town, is 'Golden Pond' with Henry Ford, his daughter Jane Fonda, and the magnificent Katherine Hepburn, one of my all-time favourite actresses. As for the food, I don't eat most seafood and ate liver when I was little but not now. I'm not lucky either.

    1. The exact title of the film is 'On Golden Pond'. I'm sure you've seen it.

    2. Yes, Brenda, several times. It is wonderful. We're not Jane Fonda fans, though, and find it hard to even look at her face now. Such a traitor during the Vietnam war, and she has never apologized.

I love the movie The Lake House!

Ok, I'm curious as to where you all are finding these questions.

    Have a good day!

  11. Regarding #1 - - The book "Boundaries" by Cloud & Townsend would commend you for saying "No" at times!
