Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 656
3. Pickles. Love 'em or no, thank you? What's your favorite type of pickle? What's something you eat that definitely needs a pickle added? I love sweet pickles and bread n' butter pickles. Dill slices on a burger are okay, but sweet is preferred. They are good with any sandwich, or on a cheese board!
4. Tis the season...do you know any June brides? Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? What's your favorite movie wedding? No one I have on my calendar has a June anniversary. There are no weddings on my summer calendar. Wedding movies that I have enjoyed: My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and The Wedding Planner are the first two that came to mind.
5. June 1st is/was National Say Something Nice Day...say something nice here. Thank you, Joyce, for giving us these fun Hodgepodge posts every week!!
6. Insert your own random thought here. A few months ago, I made the decision to change my primary physician from one major clinic here in Lakeland to another. Over the years, I've had specialists at both clinics, and I will just say that the two clinics don't play well together (in my experience).
My change in my primary provider only left one specialist with the other clinic, and I see a new cardiologist on Friday this week. All of that to just say it has been a pain in the (whatever) to get this all done and situated. Medications must be switched for refills, new meds don't always work like we would like, new tests ordered, and some of them seem redundant... I read the reports posted in "My Chart," and I also do my research on medications and tests, etc. Sometimes the staff seems tired of patients who ask too many questions... I'm tired of doctors right now and look forward to being done with the new ones after this week. It's all my decision, and it's all for good. Rant over. Thanks for 'listening'!!

I love number 5. June 1st is one of our national holidays in Indonesia called "Hari Lahir Pancasila" (Pancasila Day). Pancasila is the foundation of our nation and was introduced by our first president, Soekarno, in 1945.
ReplyDeleteIt is an important day for Indonesians because it reminds us of the values and principles that unite our diverse country.
Navigating the health care system now is not easy. I had a tele health visit yesterday as I had a test run and we discussed it over the video call as opposed to me trekking in for a 10-minute conversation which I appreciated. Hope you got everything the way it needs to be going forward. We have a Florida wedding in July and I know it will be fun but I'm not excited about the heat. I bought a dress that is loose lol.
ReplyDeleteI am not good at making small talk with people that I don't know either and great minds think alike, I said thank you to Joyce too.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well on Friday with your new cardiologist.
I'm finding that it is exceedingly hard to keep a doctor that you love--when you do find one, they soon leave that practice. It's hard.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like once you get this sorted out, the dr thing will be a good thing - but it sure is a pain in the meantime!
ReplyDelete#6 is my issue right now too. My doctor retired after about 25 years, and I had to get a new one. You are right new medicines. The side effects. The changing of EVERYTHING. It is so incredibly frustrating. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteAaaaargh ... on successfully navigating today's healthcare system. Someone needs to manufacture/market a merit badge for us seniors.
ReplyDeleteOh ya on having to make "small talk." Ugh. The only way I knew was turning the tables, asking them about themselves. This worked especially well with a couple of puffed-up executives. (lol)
We just went through the same thing! Our PCP of 20+ years relocated leaving us high and dry. Geez. Changing to another provider wasn't fun. AND life goes on!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't even do small talk well with people I know! Ugh! I like to get right to the point! But it's definitely a skill and a gift for some. Enjoyed your answers Terri. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the last thought, Terri. Wishing you a beautiful day. smiles
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I echo Mari's comment, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteYes we were on the same page today Terri lol. I know our healthcare isn't great at times but I'm so glad I'm not navigating yours. When we've talked about it with my son and DIL it all just sounds so complicated. Hope you get it all finalised soon and that it all runs smoothly going forward.
ReplyDeleteFinding a doctor is a hard time for all these days. One of the major clinics here just simply fell apart. I got out before it went bankrupt. Nothing but PA visits there now, I do love the new smaller doctor owned clinic I am going to now, but I think we have all found it hard to find one that we like. I find that the larger he clinic or business the more prescriptions written.
