June 30th: A Patriotic July 4th Tuesday 4

The 4th on Tuesday 4

It's time again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, and this week, our friend Susan suggested the topic of decorating our homes for the holidays, especially for the 4th of July, as it is the USA's 250th birthday.  So, let's do that.

On July 4, 1776, we declared our independence from the British Empire and King George III when the First Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence.  We became a free and sovereign, independent nation on  September 3, 1783.

1. Will you or have you decorated for the holiday? If you don't reside in the USA, do you have a special holiday you decorate for on the outside of your home?  My flag flies every day.  I did put some red, white, and blue artificial flowers in my front yard.  Most of my holiday decorations are inside the house.

2. What special little touches do you add to the outside of your home?    Do you enjoy puttering around in your yard?  See above.  No, I do not enjoy puttering in my yard.  I don't care for yard work and am not a plant person at all.  I appreciate beautiful yards and know how much work they take.  It's just not my thing.

3. Are plants and shrubs an important part of your house decor?  No.  See above.

4.  On which holidays do you spend time decorating either inside, outside, or both?  I keep the patriotic things out for the summer, starting with Memorial Day, through Independence Day, and on to Labor Day.  I put a more fall-like wreath on the door after that.  I decorate for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter as well.

Peace and Hugs!!
Thanks for your visit today!!

America the Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

  2. I don't do much for the 4th of July either. Just my everyday flag and a couple of nods to the 4th. I do decorate our condo clubhouse with red/white/blue but even that is not over the top. Have a wonderful 4th of July. xo Diana

  3. I love how patriotic people are in the US, the only time flags fly here are for the football or political reasons. I love working in my garden as long as it's not pulling weeds, that seems like a never ending job!

  4. I enjoyed your answers Terri. I decorate for the same holidays you do. We don't have a big flag outside but I put little ones in the landscape from Memorial day till after the 4th.
Bob enjoys yard work, I enjoy looking at it! :)

  5. It is a LOT of work to keep the plants going and beautiful...I have not done well these last two years. I do love to decorate a lot inside and out, though!

  6. It's too hot to think about working the yard in the summer time. I did go out and pick a few zinnias this morning that had been trampled down by Blackie and dying because of the heat and lack of rain. But I did that before 8:00 a.m., and I still got too hot! Like you, our flag flies every day. It's a special ritual I go through every morning putting it out and taking a picture of the sunrise behind it. Then hubby usually brings it in in the evening or when it looks like rain, which isn't often enough. Like you, we decorate mostly inside for the holidays, with a few door or porch decorations especially for Christmas and/or Easter. I want our home to be a testimony to the community. Try to stay cool!!!! Happy 4th of July!

  8. I am getting to the point where puttering in my yard is getting hard. Mostly the planting. They have such pretty fake lawn flowers on amazon and QVC. I am considering those. Loved your answers! Have a Happy 4th of July!

  9. I used to do more in the yard but my husband edged me out. Seems he's taken over the roses and he's quite good at it. He also helps with the landscaping at the clinic. I don't go all out decorating like I used to. I do it if I'm having company because I enjoy making our place fun.
We are having perfect weather. Beautiful cool mornings, no AC at night and about 94 sunshine for today with single digit humidity. I wish it would stay this way.

  10. Your idea of artificial flowers sounds perfect. I've not done anything special outside, and now the Fourth's but a few days away. I actually loathe yard work, especially now in this crazy heat and humidity. Our poor old a/c unit's working so hard!

  11. Dear Terri, I am glad that I live in a 6th floor apartment and have no yard. I enjoyed reading your responses, dear friend.
Tomorrow, July 1st, is Canada 🇨🇦 Day and moving day. And with this heat 🥵 wave Ibam very grateful 🙏 that I am not moving.
    Stay safe and hydrated...and cool.
