Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 657

From this Side of the Pond

1.  How would you define 'the good life'?  Bills paid, food in the pantry, people who care about me, and people whom I care about in my life.  Those people include my faith family at church, and knowing that it all comes from God.

2.  What's the most used app on your phone (and are you proud of that)? I don't know that I'm proud of anything, but I use my smart ring app, my security camera app, texting, messaging, and photos, and I play a few games once a day.

3. 'Every rose has its thorn', 'everything's coming up roses', 'looking through rose-colored glasses', 'it's no bed of roses' or 'stop and smell the roses'...which rose idiom best relates to something in your life currently? Explain. Everything's coming up roses for me.  I am blessed beyond measure.

4. How do you feel about floral flavorings in food or drink (rose, hibiscus, elderflower, lavender)?  Not one of those sounds good to me.  I'm somewhat allergic to strong floral scents and can't imagine trying to eat or drink it.

5. Over the course of your life, what have you probably spent more time pondering than anything else?  Years ago, it took me a while to figure out double-entry bookkeeping/accounting.  Now, I can't imagine doing it any other way.  There are other things, but let's just leave it at double-entry accounting!  LOL

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Today is our youngest son's birthday!  I'm so proud of him and feel blessed to be his (step) mom.  He was 16 when I entered his life back in 1983.  We have had some good times over the last 43 years.  Some tough times, too, like everyone, but God is good, all the time.

Jeff came down for my birthday week last year!
I loved every minute.  We had a good time.

And here he is with his partner, my Daughter-in-love, Kali
They have been together since around 2016

And before I sign off, Florida experienced an earthquake on Monday this week.  My house shook, and so did the chair I was sitting in.  I thought it must have been an explosion or a jet breaking the sound barrier.  Crazy!  All the way from Cuba.

Peace and Hugs!

Matthew 24:7:
"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places."

  1. I agree with your answer on the good life. I didn't hear about the earthquake, but I'm sure it's a bit unnerving to feel it in the house. Happy birthday to Jeff!

  5. Amen to #1.
Well a big Happy Birthday to Jeff. I'm glad he came down to see you last week - very sweet.
I have no idea of double-entry accounting. They sure didn't teach us that in high school.
I bet that was quite a surprise for you all there when you felt the earthquake. I hardly feel them anymore until they are much higher. We don't have them as much up here as we did in the,San Francisco area. But we do have volcanoes and at times the seismic activity is just that.Nothing major.
    Have a beautiful day, friend.

  8. I am surprised you felt the earthquake, but you are much closer to Cuba than we are. We didn't notice anything here. And Happy Birthday to Jeff. You truly are blessed with such good sons who have taken good care of you and have shown you true love as sons. What a blessing!! Oh, bookkeeping...thankfully all of my bookkeeping jobs were able to use good computer programs and that made my job so much easier. If I had to do it the old fashioned way, I probably would never have made it as a bookkeeper! Thank you for checking up on me yesterday. Your messages encouraged me and made me thankful to have you as a dear friend! We are blessed that we actually "know each other" in person, and that makes our friendship here in Blogland even sweeter. Thank you!!!!

  9. Well, I was wondering if y'all in central Florida weren't affected by that earthquake. Wow!
I'm doubling down on your #4!!! I even struggle to find non-floral scents among the hand soaps. Ugh. Happy Birthday blessings to Jeff!

  11. I heard about the earthquake - wow! You could feel it!! I use all unscented products due to my horrible allergies. Florals are some of the worst.

  12. Happy birthday to Jeff. Goodness that must have been a bit scary to have your chair shaking. I'm not a fan of florals either.
