March 5th: Whimsical Fashion Fun

The art museum, where I worked for 20 years, has an annual 'Gala' fundraiser.  Since covid, it was held away from the museum  - until this year.  When I took Elaine and Jim there last week, they were beginning preparations for the black-tie event.  I was a little sad that I am an outsider now (and can't afford the $400 per person ticket).  Joe and I attended every year.  I had to work the silent auction, which took place after dinner, but we got to enjoy the fancy meal and sit with some of the movers and shakers of Lakeland.  We looked forward to dressing up each year.  This is a dress I might have worn.  I sure love the color.  Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which purse she should choose for her evening out.

My thoughts:
I will pick #1 this week.  It has a shoulder strap, which is essential for me.  What are your thoughts?

Peace and Hugs!

Some of the years... good memories!!
(And I wore flats!!)

There was a different theme each year.

  1. I remember when you went to this. You and Joe looked so nice in all these pics. Good memories!
This was a harder choice for me than usual, I think any of them could work. I think I like #2 this time.

  4. I loved seeing the two of you all dressed up for those past galas, Terri. Such a handsome couple! I'll choose #1 today because I do like a purse with a strap.

  5. The Gala fundraiser sounds wonderful, such a shame you couldn't attend.
That dress is beautiful! If I had somewhere fancy to go, I would wear something like that. I think I would go with bag #2. Fabulous photos!

  6. Purse #1 and #2 were my choices, hard to narrow it down. But then you pointed out the shoulder strap on #1. Yes, I do better with a shoulder strap, too. This dress is beautiful.

You and Joe made such a handsome couple every single year!

  7. Oh Terri! I LOVE the color of that dress, and I would definitely wear it! Regarding the purse, my eyes were drawn to purse #2 first, but then I thought perhaps all those jewels on it might snag the dress or catch on other things...although #1 also has a snaggy looking decoration on it. I wouldn't be surprised if purse #2 had a shoulder strap hidden inside the bag, as most clutch type bags do. I think I am going for #2 and pretending it won't snag and there is most likely a shoulder strap inside. I love the photos of you and Joe. You both look stunning in all of the pictures. I was wondering if Joe had his own tux, or did you have to rent one each year? He sure looked handsome...and you were(are) beautiful. I can imagine those events were very interesting and fun, but a lot of hard work behind the scenes for you and the other employees. Still, it was nice you could be a part of it. Really lovely!! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Joe rented his tux the first few years, then he bought a tuxedo shirt, the bowtie, a cumberbund, and the button covers to wear with his black suit. Couldn't tell the difference in the low lights. We always had a good time.

  10. LOVE this dress. I would wear that sure. I would have a few more rolls than the model but after all I am aging. A good thing I say. I like #1.

  12. I chose #1 because of the silver ornament in the middle. It looks so elegant...like the dress.
