How?
Let's jump right in...
1. How did you end up in the place where you are living? We ran away from the snow and too much traffic, in the Metro DC area (northern Virginia)! My parents and my grandparents were 'snowbirds' here in central Florida, and we decided Florida would be a good place for us to land and to someday retire.
2. How did you end up with the job you have/had? I was the Business Manager at Santa Fe Catholic High School. The Principal who hired me left. The new Principal and I got along great, but he left to start a new Christian High School in another town. The third Principal was a mess. I decided I needed to leave to keep my own integrity intact (they fired her two years later). I saw a job advertised in the local newspaper (back when that was where jobs were advertised), sent my resume, got an interview, and got the Administrator job at Polk Museum of Art. I was there 20+ years before I retired in 2017.
3. How do you end up with your life partner? Joe and I both said it was a God thing. We were both in a place we normally wouldn't have been. We met on a Monday night, and that was it. I've written about it many times.
4. How did your weekend go, and how is the week ahead looking? My weekend was nice, but my dear friends left Sunday morning, after a two-week visit. This week has a doctor's appointment, a hair appointment, lunch with friends, and more company coming on Sunday!! Yay!
Peace and Hugs!
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

PS: I received a text from Elaine to let me know they arrived home safely, and that Bella has happily reclaimed her backyard!
Yay for company!!! smiles. Wishing you a great day.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know Jim and Elaine and Bella are home safely! I love your "life story". Glad you moved to Florida and that you are one of my best "in person" blogging friends! You are the "hostess with the mostest", and I love how you reach out to people and make so many wonderful friends! Can't wait to see you all next week!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your responses to the questions!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Jim and Elaine are safely home. I love how God has worked in your life through everything!
ReplyDeleteBill and I each fell in love with FL on our own and now together!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that Elaine, Jim and Bella made it home safely, Terri. Have a great week and enjoy your next round of guests!
ReplyDeleteFlorida does sound like a lovely place to retire and it sounds like you had a timely escape from the business manager job at the high school. You are having a busy time of it, how lovely to have one set of friends leave and more coming soon.
ReplyDeleteThank God for Mondays! Glad you landed in Florida.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you made it to Florida when you did (years before me). I marvel that when I "met you" via our blogs years ago, one day we would both be living in Florida and have made some memories (including shared life experiences) together. The Lord has blessed me through you.
ReplyDeleteAfter my former hubby lost his job, Florida was a great place to land. Moving to Arizona was a mis-step, but everything happens for a reason, I suppose. If it weren't for being near Troy and family, who knows. At least my friends aren't a four-days drive away!
ReplyDeleteI love the story how you and Joe met!
It was a God thing with my husband and I as well. Sounds like you went through a lot at the Catholic High School. Glad you found a job you loved.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had someplace like Florida (warm) close to where I live but where I'm living is the closest we get and it can get cold, at times though I'm so happy I live here especially as I age. Brrr. I love it when couples come together through a God thing. Glad you enjoyed a long visit with your friends and I'm sure you'll enjoy the other friends who are on the way!
