March 4th: The Wednesday Hodgepodge

Thanks to our hostess, Joyce, for today's Hodgepodge!  Join the fun HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 643

From this Side of the Pond

1.  As the saying goes, 'March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.' Did your March come in roaring or like some other animal? Every month carries with it certain feelings, which is why some people love and anticipate December and others dread it. How do you feel about the month of March?

My march came in quieter than a lion.  We had some much-needed rain, but our temperatures have been back to normal for central Florida, in the low to mid 80s.  This year, March brings with it lots of fun.  I have dear friends here for two weeks, and later I have two more dear friends coming for five days!  April will seem very dull in comparison.

2. Where in your life are you a lion? Where are you a lamb?  Gosh, I don't know if I am a lion in any part of my life.  Maybe when it comes to family and friends and pets needing help.  I tend to be more low-key these days.  Mellowing in my old age. LOL

3. The Hodgepodge lands on National Pound Cake Day. Do you like pound cake? It's okay. If so, do you have a favorite flavor? Plain vanilla. Let's play this or that-

  • pound cake or layer cake?  layer
  • pound cake or cheesecake?  cheesecake
  • pound cake or angel food cake?  pound cake
  • pound cake or brownie?  brownie
  • pound cake or pie? depends on the kind of pie!!  LOL

4. What makes you feel childlike wonder right now?  That I am so very blessed in the time of my life. I am so thankful.

5. What's one thing you need to add to your wardrobe to get ready for spring? If you're in the southern hemisphere, then answer for fall?  I rarely wear a dress these days, but I do like to wear one on Easter Sunday.  I ordered three.  One has come, and the other two should be here in a few days.  I like the first one and will most likely like the two that are coming.  I'll keep y'all posted!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am loving having my dear friends here last week and this week.  It has been low-key and comfortable.  No rush, no anxiety. I have a bunch of photos to share on Friday!!  Stay tuned!

Peace and Hugs!

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

  1. We tend to have a lot of rain here in February and I comfort myself with the reminder that it's not snow. We did have some snow this year which was unusual. I don't mind rain once the pollen starts because it helps bring it down more quickly. Glad you're enjoying all your company!

  2. I agree with your pound cake assessment and likes of the other cakes/pie. I'll always choose pie over most any kind of cake. I'm so happy you are having good weather and enjoying your friends while they are here. What a blessing to have such good friends who can come and stay a while like that. You are blessed indeed. Oh, I wonder where you ordered your dresses from. I do like to wear a dress occasionally, usually more so in the spring and summer months than in the fall and winter. I just can't ever find any that I like anymore that fit and that are affordable. I hope you'll share some pictures of yours!! It's been a while since I got a new Easter dress. I think I need to think about that. Have a lovely day! Don't forget to spring ahead this weekend!!

  3. Our March came in kind of lion like with wind and cold temps. So I'm looking forward to the lamb weather. And - we can't wait to enjoy Florida and you! We are blessed indeed.
I hope you share your dresses. I'd like to get one too, but they can be hard to find.

  4. I do like our weather being back to Florida expectations! lol I stayed the same size for decades so I have lots of everything, including dresses, but the weight gain from being sick in 9/24 is stubbornly making my clothes feel not quite right! I should toss the old and start over again! Ha!

  5. I hardly wear dresses anymore, either, Terri, although I do have several I've kept that are for occasions that might call for one. Looking forward to seeing the ones you purchased. Continue to have fun with Elaine and Jim!

  6. A lion? Rarely, save those times my hunger turns 'hangry.'
I hope you'll model those dresses for us? I still enjoy the feel of 'dressing', but haven't seen anything remotely attractive lately. I'm looking forward to your Friday pictures!

    1. Probable, Sandie. I got rid of all but one dress because they were too big (or totally out of style). Major clean out in my closet a few weeks ago!!
