I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Selected in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) This is one of the songs included in Willie Nelson's Rainbow Connection album. He named it after his daughter Amy's favorite song when she was a little girl. She'd been asking him to record "The Rainbow Connection" for 20 years, and finally, in 2001, he came through for her. Think of something you had to wait for. Was it worth the wait? I had to wait to have Joe in my life. Definitely worth it! I had to wait to get my college degree. Definitely worth it.
2) Willie can trace his family tree back to the Revolutionary War. Are you interested in genealogy? I am!! I did my DNA through Ancestry and have a family tree listed there with nearly 700 people in it. I am a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. I've proven one Revolutionary ancestor and believe I have four more Patriots in my family tree.
3) Today, Willie is a legendary performer, but as a child, he was very uncomfortable in front of crowds. He recalled that during his school days, reciting in front of his class made him so uncomfortable that he suffered nosebleeds. When did you most recently have a bloody nose? It's been so long, I don't even remember.
4) During the 1990s, Willie had problems with the IRS. His management team set up illegal tax shelters, and he ended up owing millions in back taxes and penalties. This year's IRS filing deadline is Wednesday, April 15. Will you be early, on time, or will you need an extension? My tax return has been filed, according to my son, who does it every year for me.
5) In "I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover," Willie sings about appreciating something he has previously overlooked. Is there anything positive in your life you feel you may take for granted? My life is so blessed. I do not take any of it for granted. God has been so good, and all glory goes to Him.
6) Four-leaf clovers and shamrocks are considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm? No. I don't believe in good luck charms.
7) "The wearing o' the green" is one way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Will you wear something green in honor of the day? My maiden name is Kelly, even though I am more Scottish (Cameron & Anderson) than Irish (according to my DNA). So yes, I will wear green on the 17th.

My adoptive father was Irish so even though my heritage is mostly English/Scot/German I still celebrate. Yes, your Joe was worth the wait! Have a great weekend, Terri.
ReplyDeleteLeprechauns are tricky, be careful if you try to trick them!
ReplyDeleteI like your Irish look here!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit to being jealous of your DAR membership - that's pretty amazing.
I think many things we have to wait for are so worth it!
Oh yes, your Joe was worth waiting for and your college degree too. That is a good answer! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I do have quite a bit of Irish in my heritage, although there's definitely Scottish and English mixed in with it. I think it's so cool that you can trace your ancestors back to the Revolutionary War! All of mine came to America after the Civil War, believe it or not. Loved these answers, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI have 25% Irish in me too! lol. Good idea for asking for three more wishes. Tricky. And that is a lot of ancestors that you found!!
ReplyDeleteYour Joe was definitely worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteI've zero Irish blood but still enjoy 'thinking green' and playing some of the traditional music. Learning what really does in traditional Irish stew, I wonder if beef wasn't too pricy for the average John/Jane Doe. How blessed we are to enjoy the Real Thing!
I keep meaning to trace my family tree, I tried when Ancestry had a free weekend once, I got about 6 generations deep.
ReplyDeletehehehe! Your answer to #8 did make me chuckle.
Regarding question #3: Nosebleeds have plagued me these past 6 months (and more). Got one nostril cauterized this past August and the second nostril cauterized just a couple of days ago. Aging skin tissue and blood pressure seem to be the culprits.
ReplyDeleteClever answer to #8!
See you soon!
Sigh...it makes me sad I won't be able to see you all soon, smiles. Thanks for the smiles, Terri.
ReplyDeleteI was wishing you could take the day off, but then I remembered Dave is having his eye surgery this week, right? So I guess you're booked...Praying all goes well with him AND you!!!
DeleteGreat answer for #8 (wishing for a pot of gold)! LOL And I'm honestly SO glad you have so many blessings and seem so grateful for all of them. ♥
ReplyDeleteI remember the song--I do like to decorate with the green ( I had an Irish maiden name, too) and appreciate Ireland!
ReplyDeleteI've done the DNA thing too, and found out that I have more English (and German) blood than Irish, but there's still some Irish in there (mostly Scotch-Irish), and I always wear green! I also found out that my paternal grandmother's birth mother's family has someone in the Revolutionary War, so even though my grandmother was adopted, her ancestry goes back to that...and so, therefore, so does mine...but I never tried to join the DAR. Just discovered this a few years ago when I did my DNA. But it was nice to know. There were others in the Civil War too. I enjoyed your answers...and will see you SOON!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your post . . .I am now craving beef stew haha! I am part Irish - my paternal grandmother was Pearl Murphy. We've been to Ireland one (2021) and are going back for a few days in the fall.
