Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 595

From this Side of the Pond

1. Spring has officially sprung (in the northern hemisphere anyway)...did she roll in more like a lion or more like a lamb in your neck of the woods? What needs more of your attention in terms of a good spring clean this year-your house or your garden/yard?  Our spring starts in February, here in Florida, with blooming trees and bushes, strawberries, and blueberries.   It came in like a lamb.  Getting new floors in the entire house took care of my spring cleaning.  I don't do yard work.  My "yard" is teeny and I pay someone to mow and edge. Done and done!

2. What's put a spring in your step lately?  I have had loved ones visiting, with more coming in April and May!  Friends and family visiting is always fun, and Spring and Fall are the best times to visit.  Summers are hot and humid.

3. When you were a kid, what was the best snack to find in your lunchbox? If you didn't do the lunchbox thing, tell us what was your favorite after-school snack.  I didn't take lunch to school.  I  ate in the cafeteria.  I also don't really remember after-school snacks.  I truly don't remember after-school snacking.  We got home from school (unless there was band practice) by 3:00ish.  Mom and Dad got home around 5:00ish.  We ate dinner when Dad walked through the door or very shortly after.  We did homework, and I sometimes helped get dinner started after school.

4. In what area of your life are you planting seeds?  No seeds are being planted - right now, anyway.

5. Why do you live where you do? Would you consider living somewhere else? Why or why not?  I have lived in Lakeland, Florida, for 36 years now.  Joe and I came here in 1989 because we were tired of snow and ice, and crazy traffic in the metro DC area (we lived in Alexandria, VA).  My parents and grandparents were snowbirds, and we also considered being closer to them for half the year.  I have no plans to live anywhere but here.  I was born and raised in Ohio.  I have lived in Maryland and Virginia.  Florida is home now.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  My kitchen has its first coat of London Fog paint, and I am so HAPPY.  I've been second-guessing myself. Even after the bathroom turned out so nice, I wondered about the kitchen.  I will share pictures on Friday!!

Peace and Hugs!

Standing on the promises of God my Savior

  1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King
Through eternal ages, let his praises ring
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing
Standing on the promises of God!
That's one of those hymns that you MUST stand up and sing. We always say you can't stand on the promises when you're sitting on the premises! LOL.
Oh, I can't wait to see the pictures of your kitchen once it is done! I bet it will be so pretty! And I am also waiting to see when you plant your tomatoes!! And, did you see the pictures of the hope chest? It really looks beautiful! Okay, I need to get standing up and doing something this morning too...Have a lovely day.

    1. Sitting on the premises made me laugh. Yes, Benton sent pictures and called Joey. It came out beautifully. No planting yet, but soon!

  3. I'm glad you're liking the new paint color. It always makes me nervous too. We don't have SC strawberries yet but they are so good and I look forward to seeing some soon. In general I don't think we got as many snacks as kids seem to have today. We had meals and usually something after school but we didn't bring a snack to school like many allow now. Have a great day Terri!

  4. Hooray for Spring gardening!
I'm so happy that the paint color worked out. It really is a relief because you never know what it will look like on the wall!

  5. I do hear that spring in your step, Terri! The new London Fog sounds cool and refreshing -- so perfect for Florida. I, too, have no plans to live anywhere but Alabama; just wish it hadn't taken me so long to realize this is where I belong. Happy "Podge" day!

  6. I remember loving graham crackers with chocolate frosting between the layers-a favorite snack in my lunchbox and after school! We have lived in FL now for 20 years--a dream come true for us. I am a realist and know with my MS, I will not be able to live here forever and especially if widowed. I will savor each day until God unfolds the next chapter!

  9. I live in Ohio now (though not born here- rather in Indiana). My husband and I think we'd like to live in Florida someday! We need to see where our kids wind up. That's great that you have a family visit to look forward to! I hope you have a great day!

  11. You seem to have your house ready for summer - inside and out. Glad you liked the pain color.
I ate lunch at school too.
Lakeland sounds like a wonderful place to live. I would move there if not for the kids.
Spring is there for sure - the only problem I would have in FLorida is the summer heat. I hate it hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I could not remember after school snacking either and was sort of "chalking up" the lack of memory . . .to the fact that it was a long time ago. As I was reading your answers, I remembered that we ate dinner around 5:30, too! Maybe we didn't snack since we were going to eat dinner soon. I've heard that Lakeland is a wonderful place to live!! One of my co-workers parents lived there before moving to Alabama.
