Monday Musings...

My avatar is from Bitmoji.com and they just did some updates.  Imagine my surprise when my avatar has a whole new look!  I played with it a little but I don't like it as much as I did with my original one.  Oh well. We'll see how it evolves...

My son left Saturday morning, early.  I got a text that he was home safely and he called later so I could talk with Darlene, too.  I am just glad he is done galavanting around the world now!!

He told me to not get up, he would sneak out but I told him I would not let him leave without a hug.  I got up and made sure he had coffee, orange juice, and a couple of donuts (purchased at Publix on Friday).  I did go back to bed when he left, though.  When I got up a couple of hours later, I decided to do laundry so stripped the beds (guest room and mine) and gathered towels.  I usually do my two loads of laundry after church but just got it all done on Saturday.  I did some cleaning and felt pretty good about being productive.

Sunday school and church, as usual.  I am so blessed by my church and church family.  Our small group has been meeting hit or miss for a while now.  Our leader, Gary, had shoulder surgery and others have been sick here and there.  It is my turn to host so I gave Gary two dates in April. It's a good group and I have been missing our gatherings.

This week I have a lawn guy coming by today to treat my little front patch that is more weeds than grass.  Our management folks let us know when we aren't living up to the standards they want and I got a letter last month.  Sigh.  My irrigation system hasn't worked since before Joe died. I loathe yard work. The handyman, Mr. G, is working on my sprinklers.  I purchased weed and feed stuff last week and will do whatever the lawn guy tells me to do.  He was recommended by the mowing service we hired when we bought the house.  I trust them.  We'll see what happens.  Sigh.

Sheri is coming on Tuesday to start painting my kitchen.  I am going to do my bathroom, more because I am lazy than anything else.  I can do it in little sections and not have to take everything down and then use the guest bathroom while she paints.  I don't have to use a ladder in the bathroom either.  She will need to paint above the kitchen cupboards, so I am happy to have her do that!!

This is too long already so time to stop.  Wishing you all a blessed week ahead!!  Thanks for your visit!

Peace and Hugs!

What a friend we have in Jesus!!

  1. Your Avatar is very pretty, just like you! Do you use that same one on Facebook? I don't really like the ones they have there, but I don't know how to do anything else! I'm glad to hear that Joey made it home safely. I know you enjoyed having him there. He is a lot like his dad, isn't he? Very friendly and outgoing and just all round nice guy! You are blessed! Oh, I hope you can get your little yard patch fixed up to snuff! I'd hate for anyone to be judging my yard...that's why we live where we can do what we want, although there are some people who don't do anything but clutter their yards with junk, and then I wish there were some rules. Oh well, it is what it is. I hope you can get your tomatoes planted soon! Can't wait to see how that looks! Oh, yes, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear...what a privilege to carry everything to Him in prayer!" Amen! Have a lovely week.

    1. Facebook has their own avatar so it is different from this one. My planter is in place and I have top soil for it, but I need to get some plants. Maybe later this week. I will for sure, share the progress!

  4. I like your avatar. I did one through facebook but really don't care for it. The background is so cheerful too.
I'm so glad you had such a nice time with Joey. He's a blessing for sure!
    Happy painting!

  5. I like your avatar, Terri. So glad Joey made it home safely and that you all had such a nice visit together. Yard work can be such a pain, but happy for you that you can hire someone to do it for you. Have a great and blessed week!

  6. I like your avatar! Do we call her Terri Junior?
So your Bible study is co-ed? Every time our ladies group meets I come away feeling enormously enriched, but might be leery of menfolks' participation. I suppose it would all depend on the individual.

    1. Our small group is not a Bible study. It is more social but we have done a book a couple of times. Mostly couples, but there are a few singles. We end the evening with prayer requests.

  7. I love your avatar! I was surprised too recently when mine changed. It was horrible!! So I worked on it till I got something acceptable. But I do not like it as much as the other one.

You're really getting your house in tiptop shape! We need so much done after being here 15 years. It was just a year old when we bought it. But we don't feel up to and don't have the time to do the work ourselves, and we hate to spend the money to pay anyone else. Ugh!!

  8. I really like your avatar too - do you have to keep it if you don't like it? It is hard to change. I go to an all-women's bible study too. Nice you made Joe coffee to go. Sorry about your yard work - I hate yard work too!!!!!

  9. Doing laundry after loved ones leave is like therapy for me! I like to paint a room--everything looks fresh and new! Glad you have help, too.

  11. My hubs loves to work in the yard but we use Natural Lawn for the fertilizer/lime/weed killer treatments. I pay in the spring and that covers 8 treatments which is all we need. You can pay monthly but I get a little discount if I pay up front. We calculated and figured it's not much more than if we did it ourselves, and this way we don't have to lug it all home from the store. It might be worth looking in to especially if it's just a small bit of yard. Glad you enjoyed time with your son!

  12. I'm most happy outdoors, in the garden, with the heat of the sun on me ... so winter is very hard on me (mostly atrributed to age now, haha). I love to paint, but on canvas. My days of painting walls and such are pretty much over. At my age, my kids don't want me on ladders or even step stools. And yet I still ride my ten-speed mountain bike. Darn kids, lol. I love my church, the small groups we have, and all the extras that come with church friendships! God is good! Have a blessed day, Terri!
