Tuesday 4
Let's Cook!
Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 kept in memory of her.
Let's talk about food this week, shall we?
1.What is/are your favorite meal(meals) to eat and to cook? I am not a picky eater and have lots of favorites. Depends on my mood and what sounds good at the time. I like to cook Italian food but also like to make fajitas and tacos. I make pretty good soups, too.
2.How often do you cook at home and what kind of meals do you make? I have not been really "cooking" since it is just me. I have been buying lots of frozen things that are easy to heat up. If I cook, it has to be something I don't mind eating for two or three days because I haven't learned to just cook for one. I didn't really cook for two either. I learned to cook for six and still pretty much always make enough for six.
3. When you go out to eat what foods do you find yourself ordering most? Pasta and/or shrimp.
4. Can you recommend a restaurant in your area? We have lots of good restaurants. Why do you like it? Il Forno has great Italian Food. Tapa Tio has great Mexican food. Shells and Fish City Grill both have good seafood. Keke's has great breakfasts. What's not to like!!
Learning to cook for one is a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed going to Shells with you during our visit.
It is so difficult to cook for one, Terri. Have you thought about buying some freezer containers to save any leftovers for sometime down the road when you are in the mood for that particular dish? It really keeps things simple.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I forget about them and 6 months later I have to toss them. Bad habits to break.
DeleteSounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI still cook for 6 if I'm not careful! It's hard to get out of that habit. I wish we had more 'favorite' restaurants around here. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI don't cook much anymore either. It's so much easier to buy frozen or eat out.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
...and that is what I miss about living in a larger city/town ((smiles))-the food. I hope you have a beautiful day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteAside from Sunday dinner, our kitchen has evolved into a food court. Tom and I rarely enjoy eating the same thing, even at the same time of day. I prefer my big meal about Noon, he at 8 or 9PM. It's all good!
ReplyDeleteI don't really enjoy cooking like I used to. Yes, the fewer to cook for, the harder it seems to do. I always have too many leftovers and we just don't like eating the same thing over and over, and I don't have freezer space. I share food with our kids a lot, but then again, they have their own food and leftovers so don't want mine either. LOL. We don't have many restaurants here and we don't like to travel too far to go eat, so we pretty much limit our out to eat date for Sunday after church with friends wherever we can all get in at the same table. It's all good. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI know I battle cooking for 2 all the times. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThey raise their own beef here in my retirement community. With restaurants in NYC not doing much business we have been living high on beef. They sell it as organic high end beef and business has slowed down.
ReplyDeleteI still cook for 6 too, and have leftovers. That works because Bob takes them in his lunch. If I was on my own, I wouldn't cook much either.
ReplyDeleteI do not cook like I used to do either, Terri. With just us two we find we eat one big meal a day and that is enough. I would love to come and go with you to the Italian restaurant you and Joe liked so much.
ReplyDeleteCome on down for a visit! I would love that!!
DeleteI still cook for 4, but that's on purpose. I like leftovers to have for lunches or an easy dinner of all the leftovers one night a week. My mother-in-law, God bless her, still cooked for 9 right up until the end of her cooking days. I hope you're enjoying a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have still not learned to cook for two either, but I have learned to freeze the leftovers so we don' have to eat the same thing for several days.
ReplyDeleteLiving in Florida and fresh seafood is a true gift!
