Sunday Stealing...

Thanks to Bev Sykes for today's questions.  You can join in HERE!

Summer

Stolen from League of Extraordinary PenPals

1. What subjects lead you down a Wikipedia rabbit hole?  Anything about ancient ruins that have been discovered.  I keep clicking on links and it is so easy to get mired in a 'rabbit hole' before you really find the information you started looking for.

2. How do you like to spend your birthdays?  I haven't had one for many years without Joe taking me out to eat, so I'm not sure how I will feel when my birthday comes this year.  This one coming up is the big 70.  How did that happen?!

3. Something you might take a little too seriously?  I take many things seriously but can't think of something that I take too seriously.  Quite possibly Joe could have answered this, or maybe one of my sisters??  There must be something I hang on to with too much seriousness.

4. Describe a time you made a good decision for yourself.  Most recently, to take the job offered to me by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

5. Something you’ve improved/gotten better at.  Getting through each day without my Joe. My heart is still broken but I'm holding the pieces of it together better.

6. What dish would you bring to a summer potluck?  Probably a pasta salad.

7. What do you miss about Winter?  I miss the cooler temperatures and low humidity. that we enjoy in the late fall through early spring.

8. Share a summer memory.  My mind goes back to my family's summer vacations at a fishing camp in Canada.  Always fun and we always stopped at Niagara Falls on the way there.  Long before Cadbury's Caramello candy bars were available in the USA, we looked forward to getting them at a little general store down the road from the fishing camp.

9. Words you misspell or misuse the most.  I rely very much on the computer's spell-check and Grammarly for misusing words and phrases. My bigger problem is pronunciation. I still can't say accompaniment without stumbling over it.

10. Things you love to do, that can only happen in summer.  This is Florida where it is summer all year long.  I grew up in Ohio, though, so swimming would have been my answer back in the day.

11. How would you describe your sense of humor?  I'm not as quick with it as Joe was but I think I have a pretty good sense of humor.

12. Have you ever quit a job or career?  Yes. Most recently I resigned from the temporary job I had at the air compressor place and my regular readers will remember my joy when I was able to do that.  Before that, I resigned from several positions along the way to my 20+ years at Polk Museum of Art.  I always resigned with at least a  2-week notice. I never just quit a job and walked out.

13. What are your favorite features of your cell phone?  The camera on my Galaxy S8 is SO good. I hope my phone lasts forever.

14. What scents always make you hungry?  Onions & peppers cooking with sausage; yeast bread baking; garlic and butter in the skillet; steak on the grill... most everything, I guess!! LOL

15. What are you working on right now?  I am spending most of my time this weekend working in the den/Joe's office. It is the one area I haven't gotten organized and I need to get it done.  Making progress.  Tomorrow marks six months since I lost my sweet Joe.  It is on my mind...

Peace & hugs!
God is in control.

  1. Thinking of you today and tomorrow as you face this 6 months anniversary without Joe. Perhaps spending that time in his study among his things will give you comfort and peace. Praying this will be a time of joyful reflection on the happy memories you have shared, knowing that Joe will be waiting for you in heaven someday, but in the meantime he would want you to live your life fully and enjoy the sweet memories, but continue to make new memories. (((hugs))) and prayers for you today.

  5. Hugs to you today, Terri. You are one of the strongest people I know and I want to be like you when I grow up.:) You encourage me with your faith, hope and joy in every day. Marvin turns 70 in October and I need to call and set up a birthday dinner for him at a local restaurant. We hope all the children and a few friends can attend. Have a blessed day.

  6. Onions and peppers and garlic and butter ... oh my. My taste buds are doing a happy dance!
Right now I'm remembering Longfellow's nod to what he called, 'secret anniversaries of the heart.' We're holding you close in ours. xo

  7. Back in the day when bread machines were in, I just loved the smell of the baking bread... and very yummy as well! I don't know why the fad faded and I gave up on it...

  9. Peace and comfort to you this day and especially tomorrow. I understand. Oh how I do (and you know that).

I see you as pretty unflappable, so not much takes you by surprise and you hold together very well -- traits I'm still working on.

  10. A pasta salad is something I make frequently for potlucks too.
Praying for you as you hit this 6 month mark. I'm glad you have such good memories of your sweet Joe and that we know he is now in heaven!
