Friday Fotos...

I only have one new photo this week but wanted to share a couple of old ones with you...

Yesterday was National Dog Day.  You all know me as a cat lady, but I do also love dogs.  The last dog I had was a 90lb. collie named Sarge (Sargeant Pepper).  My ex-husband got custody of Sarge and he later had to be put down because of cancer, but he was a sweet boy.

This is Sarge and me (the mid-1970s) with a frozen Lake Erie in the background.

Me with my long hair and mini-skirt, and sweet Sarge.
Our house was on a street that ended at Lake Erie.
We lived in Huron, Ohio (near Sandusky and west of Cleveland).

I do love dogs (especially big ones)!

Last week, I heard from the funeral home that took care of my Joe last February.  The brass marker for our 'niche' was done and had been put in place.  I went there after work a few days later and took this picture.  I did send it to our boys that evening but am sharing it here with you, today.  I'm doing okay with it.  I will say it was strange seeing my name there, but then it is also comforting for me.  I'm glad arrangements are made and paid for and I'm not leaving that worry for anyone. (And yes, my "real" name is Teresa.)

I decided to give one of those meal delivery companies a try and ordered six meals from Freshly.  They will be delivered on Monday.  I am interested to see how they taste.  Will keep you posted!!  They are pre-cooked and just need to be heated in the microwave!

Peace & hugs!

Jesus loves us!!

  2. That marker is beautiful, Terri. Yes, it's good to have things done ahead of time in order not to stress the family when God calls us home.
And I loved the photos of Sarge and you! I love all animals, though Danny and I don't have any right now, nor do we plan to. Having grands is enough - lol!
    Blessings!

  3. I love big dogs too. I'm curious about the meal companies. I've heard they are good but pricey.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I love the picture of you with your long hair and Sarge. Looks a little familiar to my days as well. I am glad you have the details taken care of. Jeff and I really need to do the same. His parents had all that paid for and all arranged and it did truly make a difference.
I can't wait to hear about the meal plan.

  8. Thanks for sharing the marker with us Terri. Marvin and I need to make some decisions along those lines as well. Much better to be prepared in advance. Hugs to you today!

  10. What a gorgeous collie! As a child, Lassie was appointment television!
Your pre-planning final arrangements is such a generous act. I didn't realize what a blessing that is until my own mother passed.
    Happy Friday! xo

  12. Big dogs are wonderful. The only reason we've gone with the smaller ones is I can't pick up anything that heavy anymore and many times I've had to do that as the dog ages.
The marker is very nice. Ours will have complete names and dates. My one chance at 'fame'. *lol* We keep talking about ordering it, or them, but the cost!! It can be prohibitive.
I would like to know how the Freshly goes. Let us know if they're worth the extra money.
    God bless ya.

  13. I love your Sarge! I already told you on FB that we had a collie (Laddie) just like that back in the early 80's in Ohio. We lived in Willoughby Hills, also near Lake Erie, but not as close as you were apparently. Thank you for sharing the picture of the monument marker. Very nicely done. I know it was hard to see it, but yet it does help to give some closure. (((hugs))) to you.

  14. The marker looks very nice. I also think it's a comfort to see you name there along with Joe's and to know that is all taken care of.
I hope the meals are good.
I love seeing you with long hair!

  16. I'm a fairly new reader, and now a follower, found you via Linda's blog. Such a beautiful marker. So very sorry to just now read of the loss of your dear husband. Our prayers are with you! // We had small-ish dogs (a Schnauzer and a Beagle/Dachshund) but a big cat (Tuxedo) - they've all been gone since 2013... in high school I had a cute little Heinz57 type of dog named Sheesh and a Poodle mix named JoJo.
