One Night Standards
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!Saturday 9: One Night Standards (2019)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The video for this song takes place in a motel and the story is told from the point of view of the desk clerk. Have you ever worked in a hotel, motel, or bed-and-breakfast? Two summers when I was in high school, I cleaned rooms at a truck-stop motel.
2) Ashley McBryde sings that she's not Cinderella, a reference to the fairy-tale heroine warned to return from the ball before midnight. When did you recently stay up until the wee small hours of the morning? It's been a very long time!
3) Ashley had been working hard as a singer/songwriter for eleven years before she was discovered and proclaimed one of Country's best new artists. What was your life like 11 years ago? I was still working, and living here in Lakeland with my hubby. We had FIVE cats living with us then (three now).
4) Ashley is from Mammoth Springs, AR. One of the most popular stops on Main Street -- for locals and tourists alike -- is Spring Dipper Ice Cream. More than 20 flavors are made right there on the premises, from Jamoca Almond Fudge to French Vanilla. When confronted with such a wide selection, do you tend to order your familiar favorite or try something new? I am a chocolate ice cream girl but also like butter pecan and if the chocolate has toffee in it, all the better.
5) In 2007, she moved to Nashville to pursue a music career. Have you ever relocated for a job? No. For my first husband's job, yes, but never for my job.
6) Whenever Ashley hears a Carpenter's song, she thinks of her mother, who loved Karen Carpenter's voice. Tell us a song that reminds you of a loved one. When I was little, my mom would sing with the radio while working in the kitchen and I remember her singing along to Blueberry Hill and also this one...
7) In 2019, the year this song was recorded, Notre Dame Cathedral was damaged in a fire. Have you ever visited Paris? No. France has never been on my list of places to go.
8) Also in 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (aka Harry and Meghan) had a baby boy. Is anyone in your life expecting a baby? Not that I'm aware of.
9) Random question: Do you always want to hear the truth about yourself? Yes, even when it hurts. Please don't play games with me.
Peace & Hugs! God bless!!

Lots of different questions this morning and of course good answers from you. Hope your Saturday is a good day.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely not a late night person, and I do love chocolate ice cream!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Terri!
France isn't on my list of places I wanna go either.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Been loving your siggies at the end of your posts, Terri. France is not on my list either--well, maybe wine country. smiles
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers today, especially your Random Thought.
ReplyDeleteI don't care to go to France either.
Have a good Saturday my friend.
Here's some truth about you: you have a delightful blog with wise observations about life that encourage me.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Andrews Sisters, I miss harmony like theirs in today's music.
Thank you, Barb. You encourage me with your blog and with your comments here. Thank you!
DeleteThe first popular song that I remember from my childhood was Lipstick on Your Collar. My Aunt Joyce was a fan of that one.:)
ReplyDelete#9? Exactly absolutely! I was in Paris with my folks in '57, but have no memory; only the stories my mother told of the rude store clerks. How fun to hear this song again! I tried singing along but alas, can't remember the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteThe Andrews Sisters were so good! That song is so much fun!
DeleteI liked your answer to #1! I did not know that. I love learning new things. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I don't know if I'm as brave as you...able to hear the truth about myself. I don't take criticism very well....and I even had trouble spelling it! hahaha! Hugs!
ReplyDelete"I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill"...Oh, mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy...Oh, my daddy used to sing that one to us "kids"...Oh this is making me cry as I listen to it. I'd forgotten it. I don't care about going to France either. Your ice cream choices are very much like mine. Or just plain vanilla with hot fudge, walnuts and whipped cream. I have worked in a resort in the office and also as the housekeeping supervisor for a spell...That was interesting. Loved your answers and enjoyed your post. Happy Saturday. Little lambs eat ivy...a kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you? I can hear my daddy singing that. gives me sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteSweet memories for me too, Pam!
DeleteI've been working nights this week, so lots of staying up till the wee hours.
ReplyDeleteI like the Andrews sisters.
Our Heather is expecting!
Love that song by the Andrew Sisters! As for ice cream, I'm not much on trying different flavors, I always get vanilla or butter pecan. Vanilla sounds so plain, guess I really am a 'plain maryjane.' lol
