Monday's Weekend Recap...

Joe and I had a great weekend and it continues today!!  Not bragging, mind you, just stoked that we had fun things to do for a change!!

Thursday evening, we went to Miller's Ale House with Tim and Judy.  Sharon and Bob took off for Franklin, NORTH CAROLINA (NOT Tennessee as reported last week).  They needed to finalize the purchase of their home there since they sold the house here.  We missed them.  Sharon had picked Miller's because she loves their fried shrimp. Since I do too, that's what I got and then sent her a picture.  We told her we would go there again this week.  Here is the photo I sent to her...

I could not eat all of it!! Way too much food!

Friday morning, Joe had an appointment with his cardiologist.
It was bright and early for both of us... an 8:00 appointment!
He has been experiencing high blood pressure and we have been concerned
about it (rightly so).  His medications were changed a bit and we
are recording his BP each day for a video chat in two weeks.
I think getting his teeth taken care of has helped a bunch.

I had a lunch 'date' with my dear friend, Shirley who was celebrating her 84th birthday!
We had lunch at KeKe's and talked for over an hour.
Shirley lost her husband back in November.  Her only child lives in Texas.
She is doing great though and has such a good attitude. We laughed a lot!

Saturday, Joe's birthday, we headed for Punta Gorda which is a half-way place for us to meet up with our grandchildren, who were coming from Naples.  We had lots of catching up to do!!  We arrived at Fisherman's Village around 12:15 and they were there just a few minutes later!  Our lunch reservations were at the Captain's Table restaurant, which is right on the water.  This is a view from the glass elevator!!

Lauren, Tristan, Kathy (their mom), and I all ordered the
coconut-crusted mahi-mahi which was delicious.  The birthday boy
ordered a hamburger.  He avoids fish whenever he can.

We had such a great time catching up and there was lots of news!
Tristan resigned from the Orlando office of Lockheed Martin, in July, to take a job with
the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.  He wanted to use his
Economics degree rather than his Engineering degree.
He will eventually be moving to Washington, D.C. but
for now, he is working from his mom & stepdad's home in Naples.

Lauren also moved, from Boca Rotan to Naples, and is now
working for the same company her mom works for.
She has a cute little 2-bedroom condo in Naples for her and her cat.
Both kids are doing great and are happy with the changes brought about
by this crazy pandemic.  Kathy is thrilled to have them both in Naples.

With all that news to digest and talk about and all that delicious food, Kathy had ordered a cake for dessert.  The waitress messed it up when she took the top off but it was still delicious. Kathy, Lauren, and I enjoyed a cup of coffee to go with the cake.  It was a wonderful day and a fun celebration!

Joe also got gifts from them, as well as Kathy picking up the tab for lunch.

And to top it off, when we first got there, the tail end of a boat parade for President Trump had just gone by.  Lauren ran out and captured photos of a few of the boats but the flags were blowing the wrong way to see TRUMP clearly, but it was fun.  People out on the balcony all had American flags to wave as the boats went by.  I'm sorry we missed it!!

There they all go... off under that bridge in the far distance...

Kathy took this picture before they got to the restaurant... masks on to commemorate
the times we are living in...

Today we are having Helen and Cheryl over for a late lunch/early supper.  Hamburgers, corn-on-the-cob, potato salad, deviled eggs, baked beans... picnic fare.  It will be good to see Helen. I stopped in for a visit on Tuesday and she seemed okay.  I know they went to church yesterday so that is also good!

Joe and I also went to church yesterday.  We had 59 attendees and I actually got a real hug from one of our friends!  I have really missed hugs!

Wishing you all a good Labor Day and a blessed week ahead!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!

  8. What a super weekend ... I'm so happy for you! Except looking at all that delicious food my taste buds are going berserk.:) I'd love to see how Fisherman's Village's been was rebuilt after the hurricane. The only restaurants I remember were the Oyster Bar and Earl Nightingale's. LOVE the boat parade!

  9. What wonderful pics and you have had a full weekend! I loved seeing the family pictures. Lots of Trump parades here on Saturday as well. I am hopeful that all that means good for him, although I see a few Biden yard signs scattered in this usually red area.
    Have a wonderful day!

  11. Such a great weekend! so happy it turned out so well, and that you had nice weather and a beautiful place to be together! And to see the tail end of the Trump boat parade! How cool! I love that they are doing that in so many places! I have high hopes and pray we won't be disappointed... So glad you are continuing your celebration today with Helen and Cheryl. Sounds like you went all out with your menu. We aren't doing anything extra. It's been raining a good bit already today. Our kids are up north visiting Rose's family and Scott had to work, but has just come home. I will cook some chicken in the oven since it is raining. I decorated for fall a little. Now if the weather would just cool down... Have a great week!!

We've been hugging at our church for awhile. It's nice to be back to that and no one has gotten sick.
