The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

A big thank-you to Joyce for this week's Hodgepodge!  Join other Hodgepodgers HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 385

1. Something you've done in recent days or months that might be described as a labor of love?  Caring for loved ones; gathering mail for traveling neighbors; supporting church members in a walk for life...

2. Last time you 'worked your fingers to the bone'?  Ha! Gosh, it's been a long, long time.  I guess when we moved back in February 2017.

3. According to a recent survey, people named the following ten jobs as the hardest-nurse, doctor, paramedic, police officer, firefighter, surgeon, healthcare worker, bomb squad, farmer, and prison warden. Of the jobs listed which would you say is the hardest?  Definitely farmer, for physical & mental labor.  The one you'd most like to do?  Actually, none of them but I agree that nurses work harder than doctors!  Least like to do?  Prison warden (have you watched Wentworth?!!!)  What's one job you would add to the list?  Parent!!

4. A recipe you make that is labor-intensive but worth it?  I don't make any recipe that is labor-intensive.  I'm a throw-it-in-the-crockpot kind of girl.  More than five ingredients?  Forgot about it.  LOL

5. Last job you did or task you completed that required teamwork?  Getting the trash all gathered up and the big bins taken to the curb once a week. Joe and I always get it done together.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  Yesterday, I had to go to my uro/gyn doctor to get my prescription renewed for a long-term antibiotic I take for UTIs. She prescribed a new medication for me to try and gave me a month to take before filling the script... because it is expensive (of course).  I called The Canadian Med Store after my pharmacy gave me the news (yikes) and the Canadian Med Store can get me a generic that isn't available here (same ingredients) for substantially less than my prescription insurance or GoodRX.  I get a couple of other meds through them already.  If you have an expensive medication, give The Canadian Med Store a try.  I am saving a bundle by using them and never go into that dreaded Medicare donut-hole.  I got nothing for this little pitch.

 Thanks for your visit!!
Peace & hugs!  God bless you!!

  1. It's crazy how much some meds cost. I'm glad you found a much cheaper alternative.
    Have a great day!

  2. Good Rx has been wonderful... I can get many for just a few dollars compared to my RX plan. Thanks for the heads up. Trump's plan should bring down the costs soon. The drug companies can't charge anymore than they do to out of country.

  3. So far, I haven't had problems with medications that are off-the-chart expensive, but it's good to know there are alternatives out there, Terri. And when I cook, which is rare around here, I'm a crock pot girl, too!
    Blessings!

  7. Do you have to get your doctor to send the prescription to that Canadian place? Yes, parenting is HARD!

    1. Yes, they can fax the script. The pharmacy can't transfer. Technically the CMS isn't a pharmacy.

  8. So glad to hear that about the Canadian Med Store! Hopefully, we won't be needing any $$$ prescriptions, but one never knows. Since I can't remember the last time my fingers got a work-out or prepared a fancy meal, I took a pass on the HP. Happy Hump Day, dear lady!

  9. We, too, collect all the trash together as a team. He holds the bag while I do the dumping of all the waste baskets throughout the house. Cooperation and teamwork are beautiful.

  10. Thanks for the info on the Canadian med store. I don't need it now, but I'm sure I will.
I agree with you on farming. I grew up on a farm and it is hard and long work.
Nursing is hard too, but rewarding. Prison warden and police officer would be too much for me!

  11. I have never heard of the Canadian Med store. Most of our meds are not expensive except Dick's insulin. But he is now on a very low dose so it lasts a long time.

I think the most labor intensive meal I make is fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. I never make it for us, but for Anthony and Lori. They pay me to do all that work, haha!

  12. Thanks for reminding me of the Crock-Pot! I use it especially in the cold weather months, which means I should get it out about now. And I have not watched Wentworth, but will give it a try. Someone recommended Line of Duty, but I prefer crime to have already occurred and we simply uncover whodunit. I don't like being a spectator for graphic sex and violence. I'm more the Vera or George Gently type. 😊. Have a wonderful day, Terri. Glad you could find less expensive meds!

  13. I love the crock pot too. I've used it more this summer than I normally do in warm weather, but it's nice because I can enjoy my day and know dinner is prepped and the kitchen isn't hot. Hope you're having a great weekend!
