The weekend sure went fast, though when I woke up yesterday morning and saw the clock said 5:08 a.m., I was in a little bit of a panic wondering why I hadn't set my alarm. I was sure it was Monday and I needed to get up. Loved catching up to reality and rolling over for two more hours!
Of course, yesterday was laundry day, so got that done. I almost finished packing in the dining room but discovered that the boxes Joe bought at Lowe's are too big for dishes. I got one box packed and the two of us had trouble lifting it. Unpacked half of it and added some tablecloths and cloth napkins, then used five smaller boxes that we had collected. He is going to buy "medium" size boxes today. I did get all of this packed up (the plastic tub is full of garage sale stuff).
You can see some of my cat teapots.
Just a few of the platters and bowls.
This is mostly garage sale stuff.
This coming weekend, we are going up to Georgia to see my sister Tammy, and brother-in-law Bruce. I don't really like losing a weekend of packing, but on the other hand, I do think a little get-away will be nice and we haven't seen them in what seems like almost a year. A bad tornado just missed them over the weekend!
We had excellent news from our seller about the new house needing a roof and some repairs due to the two leaks the inspector found. The seller said to get the bids, pick one and reduce the price of the house to compensate. Praise God!! It was more than we expected and we feel so blessed! We have one bid and will have two more sometime today or tomorrow. Hoping to be able to close on the house later this week, or early next week! Then we can get some cleaning done, get our once-a-year bug guys in and start moving things over that we don't trust the movers with.
The roofer is supposed to get started on our roof this week (current house). The buyers picked the shingles they want and they came by on Saturday to measure outside for a shed to put their riding mower in. Things are moving along nicely here too. Praise God again!
All of this would be so much easier if we were just 10 years younger. But it will get done and we are happy and excited.
I heard from my sister, Patti, that our niece got some nice recognition at Ohio University. I did post it on Facebook, so some of you have seen this already. She made the Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Society and this....
Very proud of her!!
We did make it to Mass on Saturday evening (4:00 Vigil) and then used one of our Christmas gift cards to go out to dinner. It was funny that two tables next to us were also people from our church! We might as well have sat together because we were chatting anyway!
I thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a good week ahead!! Peace & hugs!

Congratulations to your niece---it's not. "THE OHIO STATE" is it? {{giggling---I have a professor who says this}}}---I was accepted into THE OHIO STATE, but it was too far from here (6 hrs).
ReplyDeleteMy bil lives in LaGrange and a tornado touched down not far from him...keeping everyone in prayer...this is a reason why I do not want to live in the south again. Safe travels, Terri.
Ohio University is not THE Ohio State University. LOL
DeleteWOW, you are making so much progress and I am proud of you. It isnt a fun project for sure, but will be so much worth it all. God is really on your side! Enjoy seeing your sister and BIL...a get away is probably much needed at this point. Happy Monday dear friend.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are making good progress on packing. Glad all your roof issues are getting resolved.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
That is wonderful news about your roof and also your niece Patti. You are a busy bee getting so much done. It seems that once you make up your mind about it, the adrenalin just kicks in and you will get it all done. Enjoy your weekend away.
ReplyDeleteWell, it seems that everything is moving along almost seamlessly for y'all. I'm so glad. Hope the visit to the land of the real man (and woman), i.e. Georgia, is memorable. *giggle* I know we sure love it here. It will be nice to take a break.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this is common knowledge, but when moving pack at least two suitcases and an overnight bag like you're going on vacation. Put all the stuff you need every day in them and keep them with you. Makes moving a lot less traumatic. ~:)
I agree. It's been 28 years since out last move (from DC to Lakeland) but I remember. Thankfully, this one is just a hop across town and a local mover (Two Men & A Truck). Our move using a national carrier was horrific. The truck was late and four of our boxes went missing.
DeleteWow it seems things are moving fast for you guys. Or I missed out on some things along the way. I am so glad about the seller giving you the repair off the purchase price. That makes things really great. I don't ever want to move again, lol. Of course I am getting old so it probably will be inevitable. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, LJ
ReplyDeleteAint that the truth about being 10 years younger? I give you kuddos because I would HATE to move even at my age of 45. I'd just say, scrap it all - I'm buying everything new ;) haha That's the lazy way out.
ReplyDeleteYou will get it done but you are right, it is easier when you are young. We are waiting on the roofer to come because we had a leak in the rain over the weekend. Ugh!! Hoping it is just a patch.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, to be 10 years younger....LOL!!! Glad you got as much done as you did...little by little you'll get there! Happy to hear the good news about the roof!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your niece!! Great news from you sellers, another hurdle crossed. Hope all continues to go well for your move and YES, a break to go see you sister will be a good thing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a job! When preparing to move cross-country, I used those (FREE) FedEx foam pouches to wrap my plates ... no muss, no fuss. (Then again, I had no emotional connection with much of it.) My son used Two Men and a Truck, as well, and they couldn't have been happier.
ReplyDeleteGreat news on the seller's willingness to get-er-done! :)
Your getaway next weekend sounds great ..... for everyone's spirits!
Sounds like everything is moving along nicely at both houses!
ReplyDeleteI know you are proud of your niece!
Seeing your boxes makes me think that I would be smart to do some cleaning out of things myself. I know I have a lot of things to purge!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your niece!
I really feel for you with the moving thing. Packing up is so much work. One box at a time is all you can do!!
ReplyDeleteWell done to your niece. Moving is definitely hard work. I'm now helping my SIL prepare to move. Circumstances aren't ideal so it's not going to be easy. Especially with kids who don't want to part with anything.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like so much work. The thought of having to ever move again makes me shudder. Sounds like you're doing well and making progress. Enjoy your trip, I do think a little break will be good for you.
