A Happy New Year Sunday Stealing Meme.....

Thanks Bud & Quizgiver for all the fun this past year!  Happy New Year!!

Bud's Last Stand of 2016

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from recently asked questions from a previously post.

We will enter our 10th year next week! It's been a crazy year. The LAST thing I thought I'd be doing is hosting this again. I am enjoying it. Thank you to those who have contributed questions and to Kwizgiver for filling in! Happy New Year!

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1. What did you do in 2016 that you’d never done before?  I can't think of anything that I had never done before.

2. Best thing that happened to you was... selling our house 3-4 months before we thought we would!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?  We gained a new niece and a new nephew on the D'Orsaneo side of the family.

4. Did anyone close to you die?  Yes. My grandmother and our sister-in-law.

5. What countries did you visit?  Just the good ol' US of A.

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?  My retirement!!  Ha!

7. What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?  I imagine 2014 is a misprint because I don't even remember a thing from two years ago, but selling our house before it was even listed will be etched upon my memory. Blown away by God's awesomeness!!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?  Selling the house!  Hate to keep using that, but it is the biggest thing that happened in 2016.

9. What was your biggest failure?  Not being able to attend our sister-in-law's memorial service. I hated that we couldn't be there.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?  Just the usual cold/sinus crap for me, but Joe suffered four strokes that we had to deal with for most of the year.

11. What was the best thing you bought?  Wish I could say a new house, but we aren't there yet.  Maybe it's the new ankle boots I bought that I've been wanting.  Not a big deal but they sure make me happy!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?  Well, Joe's for sure, for battling back to 99% use of his left hand after the strokes.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?  That would be a work thing that I won't put in writing.  We have just had a few incidents that made me almost cry with frustration.

14. Where did most of your money go?  Doctors and the hospital.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?  Finding a new home and getting settled!

16. What song will always remind you of 2016?  Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?  Happier, fatter and definitely poorer!  But it's been a great run!

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?  Losing weight.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?  Over-eating.

20. How will you spend New Year's Eve?  Like we always do...just the two of us in front of the TV and into bed when the ball drops in Times Square (if we make it that late).  It's been a long time since we had company here for New Year's Eve.

21. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.  I'm going with the first thing I thought of....

The Doxology:  Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below.  Praise Him above ye heavenly host.  Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

22. What was your favorite new TV program?  Ha!! Walking Dead.  Awesome show.

23. What was the rudest thing someone did to you in 2016?  I don't remember anyone being rude to me.  Even if someone was, I just move on.  It's not on me, it's on them!

24. What was the best book you read?  I just finished Tim Tebow's 'Shaken'.  I wasn't real impressed and skimmed through a good part of it.  Disappointed.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?  Though I love music and listen in the car and at work, I always listen to oldies.  I did discover Jackie Evancho and purchased her Christmas CD a month or so ago.  Her voice is amazing for someone only 16 years old. Wow.  And now I heard she will be singing at President-Elect Trump's inauguration.  If you haven't heard her sing, listen here....

26. What did you want and get?  For Christmas, I wanted a French Press coffee maker and got it!

27. What did you want and not get?  I can't think of anything I wanted and didn't get. I really don't want much most of the time, though I am anxious about getting a new home!!

28. What was your favorite film of this year?  We don't go to that many movies for me to have a favorite.  We saw "The Accountant" last and enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it a "favorite" though.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?  It was just a couple of weeks ago. Joe took me out for my favorite seafood dinner.  I completed my 65th year on December 11th.

30. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?  Knowing I am getting closer to retirement and having President-Elect Trump win the nomination!

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?  Assuming that should be 2016, my fashion concept hasn't changed since before 2014....comfortable.  If is is too tight or if it makes me itch, I don't wear it (or buy it).

32. What kept you sane?  My faith in God...He is my strength (followed by my Joe!).

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?  Most of them made fools of themselves during the presidential campaign. I don't really fancy any of them.  Those who scream tolerance the loudest are the least tolerant.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?  Donald Trump winning the presidential nomination made me SO happy.  Unexpected but a beautiful victory for the USA and mankind.

35. Who did you miss?  My parents for sure.  I miss our boys but did get to see them both more often in 2016, for which I am so thankful.  Of course I miss by sisters, too.  Sure do wish we were all living closer for more family get-togethers.

36. Who was the best new person you met?  Our youngest son's girlfriend, Kali!!

Thank you for playing this week on Sunday Stealing! Please leave a comment or link when you have posted. Feel free to stop back and visit other player’s posts. Have a great week. See you next YEAR!

Some of those were hard to answer!  Thanks for peeking in!  We are going to enjoy the traditional New Year's Day meal with Helen and Cheryl today.  Pork roast, kraut, potatoes and black-eyed peas.  Cheryl said she is bringing a German chocolate cake for dessert!  One last big hurrah before I HAVE to stop eating so many carbs.

May all your wishes come true!  Be happy, be healthy, be safe, and always do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  Praise God daily!

Peace & hugs!!

  2. That was alot of questions, but as always, good answers. I have learned something from you this year, and am going to try really hard to practice it - let it go, it isnt worth being upset or mad about it. Being happy and content are much more important. Thank you for your friendship. I am almost as excited about your retirement and new home, as you are! lol

  6. I enjoyed the Q&A. "Hallelujah" by Cloverton will remind me of 2016. Their version praises Christ and what He has done for us. The only thing I've done new and different this year is join a Church. Thought I'd never do that! But it's turned out to be the right thing.
Happy New Year to you and yours! ~:)

  7. I SO look forward to reading Sunday Stealing! ... 'May have to jump in with both feet here one of these days!

'Totally ditto how you answered #34. I'm so smitten by both he and Mike Pence. I'd not listened to Jackie Evancho yet, but look forward to listening to this clip in a sec.

Oh BTW, I love that you refer to your new residence as 'home' and not a 'house.' :) Sounds like a very Happy New Year!
