Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (1984)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This song was inspired by a note WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley left for his parents. He accidentally wrote "go" twice. What was the last handwritten note you left for someone? I write Joe a note every morning on our dry erase board before I leave for work. It is by the back door.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

2) Born Georgios Panayiotou, George Michael was the son of the Greek restauranteur in East London. When you think of Greek cuisine, what comes to mind? Gyros and visiting Tarpon Springs.
3) He was a terrible driver and admitted his license was suspended a number of times. Have you ever lost your license? No, I have not.
4) WHAM! partner Andrew Ridgeley, on the other hand, is a talented driver who got to live his fantasy by racing Formula Three in Monaco. There are companies that sell racetrack driving experiences that allow you to spin around the track at dizzying speeds. Is this something you like to try? Nope. Not interested.
5) In 1990, Frank Sinatra famously gave George Michael advice. Ol' Blue Eyes told the younger man to enjoy his fame, to remember all those lean nights traveling from gig to gig by bus and, now that he's successful, "loosen up and swing, man." Who last gave you advice? We had lots of advice from several people about our move. Did you take it? Some of it.
6) Mr. Michael's neighbors have reported since his passing that he seemed to live rather quietly and that they usually saw him when he was out walking his three dogs. Tell us about the last time you spoke to one of your neighbors. I spoke with one on the phone last night. Joe spoke with one in the driveway today. We have great neighbors and are really going to miss them.
7) Fansites tell us that George Michael's favorite cereal was cornflakes. What breakfast cereals are currently in your kitchen? Cheerios. Joe eats cereal, but I would rather not unless that's all there is. I prefer protein for breakfast.
8) In 1984, when "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" was popular, Murder, She Wrote premiered on CBS. Today it's still seen in reruns all over the world. Are you a fan? Yes. I always watched Murder, She Wrote, though have not caught any of the reruns.

9) RANDOM QUESTION: What's your secret to a good night's sleep? I rarely have trouble falling asleep. I read my Bible and I also usually play a game of solitaire on my Kindle before reading a few pages of whatever book I'm reading at the time.

Thanks for your visit today! We have another weekend of sorting and packing going on. Peace & hugs!!

Guess I'm nuts because #4 would suit me down to my toes! I'd love to be allowed to drive a real race car on a closed track. Cool beans!
ReplyDeleteI read, a real book, to fall asleep. Computer pages aren't warm and fuzzy like paper.
Hope your day is blessed. ~:)
Enjoyed the meme....I might to have to partake, giggling. Now, Terri, get to work packing those boxes, snap, snap...(more giggles)---have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteI love that song.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Since we live near to PIR and Tom's a fan of NASCAR, a few years ago I bought him a (groupon) race-car ride-along experience. They did a video from inside the car, and he was SO thrilled. (Me not so much!)
ReplyDeleteYes, Tarpon Springs! ... my home before moving here! I used to like the flaming cheese, but never acquired a taste for gyros.
Fun answers, Terri. Have a happy, blessed day!
I am a BIG Murder she Wrote Fan....Marvin got me the whole series for Christmas last year.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do have a lead foot and a tendency to speed, driving at high speeds on a racetrack doesn't interest me. I think it's sweet that you leave Joe a note every day.
ReplyDeleteI am so very excited for you to be moving to a more manageable place. Things have a way of working out through our God. Not a race fan so dont know much about race tracks, etc. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and dont work too hard packing.
ReplyDeleteI was a big fan of Murder She Wrote...1984, Geez, has it really been that long? !!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Tarpon Springs once. We had lunch at the Kapok Tree restaurant on the way there and then had dinner in Tarpon Springs. I can't remember the name of the place...big Greek, seafood place. I always wanted to go back again someday, but have never made it there.
ReplyDeleteI love that you leave Joe a note every morning, unless of course it's just a to do or shopping list ;)
