Home safely....exhausted.
We arrived home safely just after noon today (Sunday)! Thank you for your prayers for safe travel. The weather turned horrid as we made our way along the Scenic Highway (Route 90), which is right on the Gulf of Mexico. Those storms that were hitting Texas and every other state out that way were also hitting Louisiana and Mississippi.
We stuck it out long enough to make a quick stop at the Beau Rivage Casino, where we deposited $30.00, and then we made our way back to I-10 where traffic was nearly stopped with hazard lights blinking as we crawled along. Thankfully we did not see any accidents. People were using common sense, driving safely. Needless to say, it was tense and terrible, but we made it through the storm to dry roads in Alabama and then Florida. We stayed the night near Tallahassee and came on home today.
It is good to be getting laundry done, we went grocery shopping and the cats are deciding to forgive our absence. Our amazing neighbors have been thanked and we are settling in for a quiet evening at home. Back to work tomorrow. Sigh.
I still have photos to sort, crop and organize. I also have your blogs to catch up on. It will likely take me the week, but I'll get there!!
Thanks for checking in, and for your prayers. Peace, love & hugs!!

Glad you made it home safely. Driving in storms with lots of traffic is no fun at all, especially on vacation. Vacations are good, but there is definitely good in routine.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know you are home safely. The weather/road conditions sound horrific; thank the Lord you are safe. Take care and rest soundly.

ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you made it home safely! I've just seen how baseball-size hail cracked a windscreen in Oklahoma and thought of Lanie and her family. Hope you were able to relax some before starting a new work week.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it home safely. What a trip, huh? I've been watching those storms on the Weather Channel. They're horrible. Hope you have a good week ahead.
ReplyDeleteGoing away on holiday is lovely but coming home again is best! (after the mountains of laundry is done of course!)

ReplyDeleteOh my. What a drive! We were just commenting on Sunday how much better our drive home was than some we'd had this past winter. I'm so glad you got home safely. Getting back into the groove after a vacation is ROUGH!!
