Checking out.....
I didn't even look for Saturday:9 today. We are packing up and getting ready to head home. We are ready, actually. Yesterday was rainy and hot and humid. We decided to spend the afternoon on an air-conditioned bus, doing the city tour. Glad we did, because the tour included going into the 9th Ward to see where Katrina did the most damage. We saw the Musicians' Village, that Harry Connick and Winton Marsalas built for the New Orleans musicians, and lots of Habitat neighborhoods. 75,000 people never came back after the storm. It was interesting, and we stayed cool and dry! Worth the money for the tour, even if it isn't raining.
We are taking a more scenic route home. It will take us longer, but we won't be on I-10, with people going 80 mph - including trucks, trucks and more trucks (not complaining about truck drivers who deliver all we need!!....It's just not fun playing tag with so many trucks and cars going too fast and being upset with me going speed limit). There are few exits on I-10 unless you are near a city. We enjoy stopping along the way and taking our time. Instead of 10 hours, it will take us 12-14, but we have two days to do it and feel excited about going along the Gulf and seeing something more than trees and swamps.
I will catch up soon. Keep us in your prayers, please, for safe travels. Peace & hugs.

Praying for traveling mercies, and look forward to pictures from this route home. It is always good to go, but even better to get home. I am exactly like you in that I dont like traveling the interstates just for the reason you said, trucks. I drive the speed limit and I am sure they think I am 'the little old lady from Pasadena', and probably have a few choice words for me. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you one bit for taking the bus tour or the scenic route home. Wishing you a good and safe journey back. I look forward to seeing more of your photos. I really enjoyed the programme I saw about New Orleans. Of course, they were there during Mardi Gras.
ReplyDeleteStay safe. Can't wait to see more pictures. Blessings
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time. Prayers for safe travel!
ReplyDeleteI just saw your ticker on your sidebar...LOVE.IT!!! :) (I'm counting down the days, too!)
ReplyDeleteI hope to get to NO soon...especially since MS will be going to LSU for Law School.
I love taking my time and enjoying scenic routes. I get too stressed when there is lots of traffic. Have a safe trip home!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you... hate all that fast moving traffic. We always take the 'back roads' and the scenic routes. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteThat would be so interesting to see all those places now. Definitely saw too much of them during Katrina. What a horrible disaster that was!
