Saturday:9 While We Wait.....

Thanks to Sam Winters for another fun Saturday:9!  Visit here HERE.
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants’ posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Easter Parade ("In Your Easter Bonnet") (1933)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a special Easter hat to be worn with your "Sunday best." Will you be getting dressed up this weekend?  We don't dress up like we did when I was a child.  "Back then" we got new everything for our Easter outfit, including a hat and gloves and lacy anklets to go with shiny new shoes.  Now, we dress a little better than we normally do for Mass.  It just feels better to dress up a bit, out of respect for what Jesus endured for us!

2) Sam is not crazy about hats because she cannot stand "hat hair." Do you have a lot of hats or caps?  I look TERRIBLE in hats.  Perhaps ridiculous is a better word.  I don't wear a hat or cap. Ever.

3) This song was inspired by New York City's Easter Parade. Does your community host a similar event?  No Easter parades in Lakeland.

4) On April 6, President Obama and Michelle will host lucky children for the 137th White House Easter Egg Roll. Which are your favorite eggs: colored hard-boiled eggs, chocolate marshmallow eggs, or plastic eggs with coins inside?  I eat boiled eggs almost everyday, for breakfast, so as a treat I would much rather have chocolate marshmallow.  Coins would be good, too, though!   :)

5) How about Peeps? Would you rather have yellow chicks or pink bunnies?  I will not eat a peep, no matter the color or shape.  Pure, nasty tasting sugar.  Yuck.

6) The biggest chocolate Easter egg was made in Italy,  measured 34 feet tall and weighed a staggering 15,000 lbs. Do you thinks it's possible to have too much chocolate?  Never!  LOL

7) Jelly beans are also popular this time of year. A 2013 poll tells us that red is by far the favorite jelly bean color, with yellow a distant second. Do you have a preference?  Black first, then red.  I'll eat a green or orange one, but never white or yellow.  I wish I could buy a bag of just black and red. Heaven!

8) We've been talking a lot about sweets this morning. The only holiday that generates more candy sales is Halloween. When do you eat more candy: Easter or Halloween?  Since we quit handing out candy for Halloween, I have to say Easter.  We do prepare an Easter basket for our Easter dinner guests, so there are always extras....I make sure of that! Ha!

9) Easter is considered the season of rebirth. What makes you feel refreshed or rejuvenated?  Easter does, actually.  Going to Mass for the Easter service is always joyful and refreshing.  The last day of work, before vacation, is rejuvenating!!  And it's coming!!

The Saturday before Easter.  We wait.  It's a day between the heartache of the Crucifixion and the joyful Resurrection.  We wait!

Thanks for stopping in today!  Wish we could share a chocolate egg and a cup of coffee!!  Peace & love!

  1. Whahahahahattttttt---no Peeps? (smiling)---I think my hubby bought every kind of Peep there was, all colors, bunnies, chicks, flavors. Anyways, I always enjoy your answers. I still make a basket for my son, of course, he goes, "MOTHER!" Hmm hmm, but I know he likes it, smiles. Blessings

  2. My son is 16 and I finally talked him into not having a basket this year. So what does my hubby do? Went out and bought him candy for his basket. Guess he is getting a basket this year again. lol Have a great day!

  3. I dont care for Peeps either. I do not dress up with new clothes, shoes, etc. I do not, nor have I ever worn a hat. As short as I am, it would make me look even shorter! I am not a chocolate fan, so guess I would have to eat more jelly beans, especially the popcorn Jelly Bellys. I always made baskets for my children, but now they have families and children of their own, so when we gather on Easter I make one basket filled with all flavors of Cadbury eggs and they can take what they want of that, and I bring the rest home......which is just an empty basket. Easter Sunday is and has always been, very special to me.....It is a reverent day with hope......in my risen Savior.

  4. I'll bet you can just buy jelly beans in the colours and flavours that you prefer. I know I bought root beer and cinnamon in Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati, and I know Ruth Hunt Candies in Kentucky has all kinds though I haven't been there for many years. As I've already mentioned, we have lots and lots of Easter parades in Spain. Gotta have my hats for winter anyway! Hope you are having a peaceful day there.

  5. #5...you and me both!! And as for hats, I like 'em, don't look good in 'em...but wear 'em. Especially out walking in the winter winds along the shore/beach!! And as for jelly beans, you and me both again...the black AND red. Cherry to be exact. And there are vending machines in grocery stores that sell just one color. [or a whole foods - organic grocers]

    Have a joyful holiday!!
