A Poetic Hodgepodge Wednesday...

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 216
Joyce has given us another fun Hodgepodge!  Everyone is welcome to join the fun on Wednesdays. Answer on your own blog, then hop back here tomorrow to share answers with the universe. See you there!

1. Besides left over Easter goodies, what's something currently kept in a basket at your house?

I have lotions and potions in a basket on my dresser; I have doodads in a little basket on the table next to "my" chair in the living room; I have snacks in a basket on my kitchen counter....I like baskets!

2. 'The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.' ~Michelangelo Buonarroti

So which one are you...the one who aims too high, or the one who aims too low? Have you ever seen The Sistine Chapel? Did you know Michelangelo's surname prior to answering this question?

I have probably aimed too low most of the time. It's usually safer.  Yes, I have seen the Sistine Chapel. Breathtaking.  And yes, I knew Michelangelo's surname, though I would have had to look it up to spell it.

3. April 7th is National Beer Day. Hmmm...wonder how that's celebrated? Do you like beer? Have a favorite? If you're not a beer drinker do you have any recipes you enjoy cooking that call for beer?

I'm sure it will be celebrated by consuming too much beer! LOL  I do not like beer. Have never acquired a taste for it.  I have never tried cooking with beer, but would not be opposed to trying a recipe that calls for beer.  I will admit that there is a new craft beer micro brewery opening, here in Lakeland, and I think I would like to go try something "different" and perhaps find a brew that I could drink now and then.

4. When did you last travel somewhere new? Tell us where? How'd it go?

Probably eight years ago, when we went to Italy. Eight years!! That's awful!!  We seem to always travel the same routes to the same places, visiting family and friends.  Except Joe just reminded me that we did go to Savannah a couple of years ago, as a side trip on our way to visit family.  That was new for us.

5. The value of most TV advertisements are greatly overrated.

6. What's a pet peeve of yours when it comes to restaurant dining?

Poor service.  Good waitstaff can make or break my dining experience.  Second would be having to wait too long for a table.  They say 15 minutes and really mean 45 minutes.  I hate that. Just be honest and let us decide to stay or not.

7. It's Poetry Month...share a favorite poem, either the title, a few lines you find meaningful, or the whole kit and caboodle.

My first thought was a couple of little r-rated ditties my dad used to recite that I really don't want to share here, and are probably not what you had in mind! Ha!  I have never been a poetry lover. I had to memorize some of the same ones everyone did in school, but I really don't care for poetry.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We have entirely too much candy in the house.  We filled Easter bags/baskets for our company, but had leftover candy (of course).  Helen brought each of us an Easter basket, both full of candy.  Oh my goodness.  I am not usually a candy eater!! Help me!!

Thanks for stopping by my Hodgepodge today!  Joyce, thank you for another fun group of questions!!  Wishing everyone a good Wednesday!  Peace & hugs.

  1. The jelly beans have finally completely disappeared from my counter. Hubs commented he didn't get many : ) I've never acquired a taste for beer either. Enjoy your day!

  3. I've always thought that Savannah was intriguing, but have never visited. Someday. We have a micro brewery in our little village. They have some good ones, and it's a fun place to visit.

  4. I have never cared for beer, but one of my daughters enjoys one now and then with a meal. Love Savannah. We gave all the candy away, thank goodness or I would be eating it. Not a poem lover either.

  5. We have left-over Easter candy, too. It won't take many visits from the 'grands' to cure that problem though :)
I'll bet your dad's ditties were good ones :) Ha!

  6. We threw away our half-eaten chocolate bunnies. That was easier than working off the additional calories ...

  7. I thought for a minute that I'd answered number one. I have all kinds of baskets filled with things, some of which I cleaned out during the holidays. I'm not a big beer drinker either, but love Purple Haze that I think must be a seasonal beer. Have you ever seen it? Last summer we went to Jungle Jim in Cincinnati where they have all kinds of beer and wine and lots of foreign food, but the shelf where the Purple Haze should have been was empty. Hope your Wednesday has been a good day.
