Here are their instructions: Here are FOUR QUESTIONS that everyone can answer and then you have the option to add a fifth question of your own for those who are visiting your blog to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four standard questions you answered!
1. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day from the US! Do you have a favorite MLK quote?
I don't know that I have a favorite quote. He was certainly ahead of his time, and his life ended all too soon. I personally believe he would be appalled at what is going on in Washington right now. I doubt that MLK would approve of Obama, Jesse Jackson, or any of the other racist blacks who continue to help divide and tear this country apart. I do like this quote: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." -MLK
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

2.
Wayne told Heather to get the questions up early because we'd be
exhausted from our trip... she didn't listen to his good advice, so MQAM
is late - when was the last time you didn't listen to good advice?
Probably daily! LOL Nothing comes to mind right away, but I do tend to be pig-headed.
3.
Since we talked about Movies last week, lets talk TV this week - what
show or shows do you wish was still on TV that ended or was cancelled?
Oh, so many shows that I have liked, have been canceled. Joe and I laugh sometimes - if we like a new series, we hope that doesn't mean it will be canceled! Mash comes to mind first!! Carol Burnett's show, Sonny & Cher's show.... Laugh In! There have been some greats that just went away.
4. What is your personal anthem or theme song? I don't have one song that I would call a personal anthem or theme song. Sorry!
My #5 question for you today is: If you are retired from working full time, when did you begin to long for retirement and are you happy now that your career is behind you? If you aren't retired yet, have you found yourself longing for that day? I sure am!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Your comments are always appreciated! Wishing you a good week, with peace, love & hugs!

Good morning Terri! 1. I don't think of President Obama as a "racist black" as you put it. My favorite MLK quote: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” 2. A few weeks ago, Walt told me I should put my keys in the same place when I get home. I wish I would have listened to him. I lost my keys! 3. I love the old variety shows too, Terri! The Carol Burnett show was my all time favorite! I also loved Tony Orlando and Dawn, Donny & Marie, and The Flip Wilson Show. 4. I don't have a song either. 5. I can't wait for retirement!! I think Walt has 11 more years to go and when that day arrives..I am going to be retiring right there with him! I see a lot of time in Florida when that happens..lol. Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteOh oh..I agree with you..I don't think MLK would like what is going on now. I had to re read your comment about that..Thanks for sharing..we are retired..well..my husband is..and you know we live in the frozen trundra now, lol. My job as a mom/wife are never ending, lol. Have a great Monday afternoon. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI loved MASH and Sonny + Cher. I don't remember watching Carol Burnett. Oldies but goodies.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I always like and agree 99% with all your answers...lol
ReplyDeleteI am in my third year of retirement. I began to think of retiring about 5 years before. My husband actually retired before me. We would love to travel more.
ReplyDeleteI agree that MLK wouldn't like what's happening in Washington right now. I remember laughing like crazy at Carol Burnett. We could use a show like that now.
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, I don't think I'm ready for retirement, but there are days!
Always fun to learn more about you. I still enjoy watching Carol Burnett snippets on youtube; they make me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteI remember some of the shows I loved as a kid like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Uncle Al and Captain Wendy, Howdy Doody, etc., so I'd love to see them again. As for retirement, I don't think I'll be one those bored retirees.
ReplyDeleteYou know, had I stayed at the hospital for 6 more years I could have retired at age 49 lol Now I work for the feds. I still will pull the state side but only when I hit 65 ? 68 ? whatever it is now but had I stayed the full time there I could've been out of there. I was ready to go, couldn't stand it anymore. I was off for almost a year going to school full time and it drove me crazy. I was so bored because classes were only 2 full days a week.
ReplyDeleteI don;t think this is at all what he wanted. He wanted equality for everyone, black and white. I liked his speech - I Have A Dream. sandie
ReplyDeleteI love the retired sign! I need one of those in my office. Haven't watched network TV since the advent of cable and satellite. I prefer English shows, like To The Manor Born, Butterflies, etc. It was so sad when they where cancelled. Hurray for DVD's! ~:)
ReplyDeleteMLK had a peaceful message of Christianity. It bothered him even in his lifetime when some people got militant.
ReplyDeleteI began to joke ten years before I retired that I would retire at 62 - - - but was not really serious because I loved my ministry/job. When I started to have health issues a couple of years before I retired and then Amanda got pregnant with our first grandchild the next year. . . . . let's just say that I really had been hearing God's voice giving me hints about it and circumstances began to confirm what HE said. The hardest part was making sure I heard correctly. Once I gave my notice - - about six months early - - - I could not wait for the day to arrive. Fortunately my husband is almost three years younger so I am on his insurance still.
I have yet to do MQAM. Hopefully, I will have those up later today. DH was off yesterday because it was MLK, a new holiday addition for him this year, and I joyfully spent the time with him. That's why I wasn't in Blogosphere yesterday and I am VERY late visiting/posting. *sigh* Oh well, I'll get that whip cracked this morning. Thanks for stopping by to listen to my Saturday Song-usasion music and it's okay that you're a fuddy ruddy preferring the old hymns over contemporary Christian tunes. lol I like the old songs, too! ;)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I took early retirement when we started our family nearly 26 years ago. I don't miss my career in the least and now that the nest is empty I have no desire to go back. Running the home is full time work. We don't have a lot of money, but we are happy with the way our lives are, though. Have a great week!
When I was working I never thought about retirement. But now that I am retired I love it and hubby and I are enjoying being able to do what we want when we want. I don't watch TV, too many commercials to enjoy it now days. I enjoy reading your answers to the questions. Have a great week sweet Terri. Hugs
ReplyDeleteRetired early...Bud and I both paid to get out at an early age...and LOVIN' IT!! About the ignoring good advice...well, since I do that often as you say...'daily'...I'm told I'm stubborn. Who cares? LOLOLOL
