My boss and three of my co-workers and I are going to lunch together today, and then shopping at a wonderful antique warehouse, over in Lake Alfred (about 35 minutes away). It is called The Barn and is a fun place to visit. They will also buy antiques from you (and even come to pick them up). We know from personal experience. When we first moved here, 25 years ago, we had a huge and very dark antique dining room set that had been in Joe's family. It was just not Florida and was too big for our house here. The Barn came to the house, gave us a price, wrote the check and took it with them. Wow! We had enough to buy a whole new dining room set and four chairs for the breakfast bar. Anyway, I am looking forward to our afternoon. I haven't been over there in 10 years. Here is a link, if you are interested in The Barn.
Yesterday was our friend, Fran's, 65th birthday, and I went to her birthday party. Our little dinner group grew by a few folks for the party at Ernest & Luisa's house. Fran's daughter, Jeanine, came over from Orlando, and two other couples we socialize with now and then also came. Joe had a meeting to attend and couldn't be there with us, but he sure missed a good time! Luisa made an amazingly delicious dinner. She made fish and vegetables in parchment pouches. She also had rice and a salad. Mary Ellen made angel food cake. I was good - no rice or bread and only a wee tiny piece of the cake. Here are my five photos I took of our group last night - thus my Friday Five.

Our little group. Blessed to have such good friends!
We all go to the same church (except Fran's daughter).
The cake! Yum!
Fran and her daughter. I don't think Fran looks 65.
Fran is a retired Lieutenant with the Sheriff's Department!!
She doesn't look like a cop either!

I wish you all a good Friday and a great weekend!
Thanks for stopping by! I love reading your comments!
Peace, love & hugs.

Can surely tell a good time was had by all. Good friends are sometimes hard to find, but you seem to have many to enjoy. I am glad it is Friday too, because all the snow and ice is gone and the temps are to be high 50's and into 60's for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe party looks like lots of fun and the cake delicious!
ReplyDeleteThe Barn would be a wonderful place to visit. Have fun!
Party looks like everyone had fun. Glad you had a nice time. I love places like The Barn. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou're just having too much fun! The party looks like such a good time and today sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for eating well too.
Well, our boss got called to a meeting this afternoon that she can't skip out on, and our co-worker, Lisa, is sick today and had to stay home again. The remaining three of us decided to cancel our trip to The Barn until Claire and Lisa can go, too. We are still going to lunch somewhere local, but our afternoon of playing hookey has crashed. Que sera, sera.
ReplyDeleteSorry your afternoon excursion was cancelled. There's always a reason why things happen and we don't always know what that is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone was having a good time at the party. No, she doesn't look like she's 65, or a cop. Nice looking lady.
You have a good weekend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FRAN!
ReplyDeleteAnd did you get anything at the antique shops?
Aww. so sorry your afternoon was cancelled. Hope y'all found a nice place to eat lunch. Blessings
ReplyDeleteFran does not look her age at all. She has been blessed with good skin. The party looked like fun.
ReplyDeleteHere I was thinking you were having a great afternoon until I saw the comments. But the good news is it is still Friday! Even with a day off in the middle of the week, it has seemed longer than usual.
Fran is like my friend Judy who doesn't look her age either. Too bad your outing got cancelled, but you still have it to look forward too. I know I'd love to have an old Singer sewing machine that you pedalled like my grandmother's.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fun night, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad today is over. Two funerals within 48 hours of each other is my limit for ant week, and I am missing one tomorrow that is out of town. Going to wedding festivities.
