When Joe says he wants to pick up sandwiches for dinner, at Jimmy John's, I don't object! Do you have a Jimmy John's (JJ's) near you? There are two in Lakeland, and they will deliver for free, for one sandwich. Amazing when you are busy at work, and need to eat. Joe went to pick them up tonight, though. Good stuff, and I didn't have to cook or do dishes. http://www.jimmyjohns.com/ They do an unwich... any sandwich wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of bread. Excellent!
Several of us, from work, had to attend a funeral today. A long-time supporter of the Museum passed away last week, and the funeral service was today, at St. David's Episcopal Church. The service was very nice (and very similar to a Catholic Mass). Lois Cowles Harrison was the daughter of the owner of Look Magazine and several newspapers. She spent her life and much of her fortune on women's issues (voting rights) and the arts. Our local arts high school is named for her (Lois Cowles Harrison School for the Visual & Performing Arts). She was only 78, but had been in poor health for awhile. The eulogy was done by one of her good friends, and her daughter spoke quite eloquently after the service. I always respect the people who can eulogize and speak at a funeral. I am not a good public speaker, and on top of that, I am a blubber head when it comes to funerals. I cried all through both of my parents' funerals and my brother's. No way could I have collected myself enough to speak. The newspaper wrote a wonderful article about her: http://www.theledger.com/article/20130606/NEWS/130609665
Vinny is doing fine. He is sitting on the sofa with us right now, and seems content, but we had to get him from under the bed and carry him to the living room. He isn't volunteering to look for us yet, or seek either of us out for petting. He does stay when one of us gets up, and he is coming out to eat and use the litter box when we are in the room with him, so little steps, but progress. The other cats are still not trying to make up with him, though. That too will come with time.

I have a prayer request for my prayer partners here. Please keep my friend, Shirley W., in your prayers. She was just diagnosed with stomach cancer. Shirley is a friend from my old church. I don't see her often anymore, but she is a believer, involved in the church, and I hate that she is facing a fight against this insidious disease. She was on my Relay For Life team, for all seven years I was team captain. Thanks for keeping her on your prayer lists.
Hope you had a good Monday, and I wish you a good night and Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by. Peace, love & hugs.

No, we dont have JJ's in this area, but very nice not to have to cook. Vinny is squeezable for sure. Prayers for your friend Shirley. Funerals and weddings, for that matter, always bring my tears. We are waiting for a storm to hit, so may close down early. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for your friend. Glad Vinny is doing well. We do not have a Jimmy John's here. Sorry about your friend from work dying. sandie
ReplyDeletePrayers offered for Shirley. I'm glad Vinny is coming around. Nights off from cooking are always a joy at my house too.
ReplyDeleteWe do have a Jimmy John's...I've been there once but it is across town and I don't eat out much...there sandwiches are delicious. Sorry about you friend...she sounds like she contributed much to life. Your kitty is cute...much like my Sambi who is doing well at my daughters. Prayers for Shirley.
ReplyDeleteSandwiches can make a meal, especially if vegetables are included on the sandwich. For Spanish sandwiches, my favourite has to be Spanish omelette (that's with potatoes and onion) with roasted green pepper on top. It's getting near my lunchtime so I'll stop talking about my favourite sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that Vinny is progressing, and I'll keep your friends in my prayers.
Oooo I love sandwiches. Hoagies (or subs depending on where u r from lol) r my fave. I love wraps too. My fave part is not having to cook. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your friend.
I'm glad Vinny is doing better. Soon he will be running all over the house
We don't have a JJ's up here but the un-wich does sound good.
ReplyDeleteVinny is so pretty. I'm glad he's getting a little more adjusted. Once he figures out no one is going to 'eat' him, he'll be more adventuresome. :)
Sorry to hear about your friend. What a horrible disease. I'll say a prayer for her.
