Well, we took that awful collar off of our sweet Vinny. He has not even tried to lick his incision site. He hadn't eaten or used the box all day. After an hour without the collar, he ate and used the box. Much better for his health to leave the darn thing off.
I even got a picture of him, on my lap this evening. Now, however, he is under the couch. We will put him back in his room, where he can feel safer, for the night.
Today is "Hodgepodge Wednesday". I actually remembered to do it this week! Kind of fun to answer the random questions. Here are the questions and my answers.
- Have you learned more from success or failure? Explain.
I like to think I
have learned from my mistakes. I’m not
thinking of any one specific error or failure, but there have been lots in my
61 years (including a failed marriage). Recognizing and embracing our
mistakes/failures, is a good way to grow, and to also remember that we are not
perfect beings.
2. What did you call your grandparents when you were growing up? If you have children, what do they call your parents? If you have grandchildren, what do they call you?
2. What did you call your grandparents when you were growing up? If you have children, what do they call your parents? If you have grandchildren, what do they call you?
I called my dad’s
folks Granny & Pawpaw; my mom’s folks were grandma & papaw. My boys are my step-children. The folks are all gone now, but they called
them Granddad and Grandma (both sets). Our two grandchildren call us Grandma and
Grandpa.
3. You're invited to a luau. In keeping with that theme, what dish will you bring to share?

Something with
pineapple in it…perhaps Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Yum!
4. Besides Jesus, what one person's life story do you think everyone should know about?
4. Besides Jesus, what one person's life story do you think everyone should know about?
My goodness that is a
serious question. I could say Mother Teresa; I could say Thomas Jefferson; I
could say Thomas Edison; but most people do know at least a little about those
people. Joe’s dad, Nick, had a great story
as an immigrant in this country, from Italy. He came here LEGALLY and made a
good life for him and his family. Brought all of his immediate family over from
Italy and gave them a start. He only went through the third grade in Italy and
could not read or write English, but was one of the wisest men I’ve ever met.
5. "Don't sweat the small stuff." Agree or Disagree? Why?
5. "Don't sweat the small stuff." Agree or Disagree? Why?
I agree, 100%. We too often get hung up on tiny details and
ignore the big picture. We get too
caught up in ‘small stuff’ and make mountains out of them that are impossible
to climb over. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Good advice!
6. June is National Rivers Month. When were you last on a river? What's the prettiest river you've ever seen? What's a river you'd like to see?
It’s been years and years since I was on a river.
I’ve crossed lots of them, but have not been ‘on’ a river in a long, long
time. The prettiest river I’ve ever seen
was one that was winding through the Italian Alps, which were snow-covered. The
water was turquoise. I saw it from the airplane as we crossed the Alps on our
way to Venice. It was breathtakingly beautiful. I have no idea what river it
was. I would love to see the Jordan
River someday. What an experience that would be.
7.
Speaking of rivers-paddling, fishing, swimming, or bird watching safely
from the shore? Which activity would you choose? Yes-you have to choose.
I loved to get out on the water in a row boat, when
I was younger. Paddling is so much fun. I hate fishing, don’t care for serious
bird watching, but am a good swimmer (used to be a lifeguard). You don’t mention tubing….now that is FUN!!

My thoughts these past few days have been about the
two-week road trip we just completed.
It was so wonderful seeing family and friends along the way. We were so blessed
with safety and love all along the 2,400+ miles we traveled. Blessed. Blessed.
Blessed.

Glad to hear Vinnie is doing better! Joe's dad sounds like a really great guy.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you joined up. We are going to be having a lot of fruit at our Luau. I like grandma. And I love Mother Teresa - another good one. Did I tell you I had those shots in my knee! Sandie
ReplyDeleteWe didn't talk about our knees, Sandie. I've had the Synvisc before, but my last insurance company wouldn't pay for it - and they are $1,800 each. We changed companies (at work) and Blue Cross will cover it. Thankful, because it works!
DeleteAwww Vinny is cutie! Great answers. Yay on your ins company! Hopefully new injections will work.
ReplyDeleteHooray for progress on Vinny. He is adapting to you already. He is a pretty kitty.
ReplyDeletePineapple Upside Down Cake - - - YUMMMMM!!!! One person who influenced me tremendously - - even though I never knew her - - was Corrie ten Boom. She was an amazing woman of God.
I will be praying for you with the injections. Hopefully they will be as pain-free as possible until they help as they are supposed to do.
That's a great 'hodgepodge' list. I enjoyed learning a few new things about my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteLittle Vinny is a pretty kitty. I'm glad he's doing good now.
That's good that BC will pay for your injections. Wishing you pain-free knees.
Have a good day.♥
Enjoyed reading this even if I'm a day or two behind. Yay for your insurance company coming through on the medicine. Good to hear about Vinny's progress too. Soon we'll be reading about his antics I hope. Enjoy your TGIF.
