Urgent Care Visit....

We woke up this morning and Joe's face was swollen on one side.  Last night, he complained that his glands were hurting, on each side of his neck.  One side is obviously infected.  So....off to Urgent Care.  Happy they opened at 9:00 today.

He has an infected saliva gland, and the doctor told him it was from all the coughing.  He now has an antibiotic, a nasal spray, and cough medicine with codeine.  Thank goodness for the swollen gland!!  He would never have gone to the doctor if that hadn't happened.  Oh my, though.  The prescriptions came to over $323.  Thank God we could get them, but they surely do get you, when you don't have prescription coverage.  He gets most of his meds from Sam's Club (generics) or from the VA, for $8.00 each.  When we can't take advantage of either of those options, it's a killer.  I'm just glad he will now get better much more quickly.  By Wednesday, he should be feeling much, much better.

So far, I have been able to avoid it.  Still sanitizing and making sure we aren't sharing silverware or glasses.  Thank goodness for Clorox!

I'm getting Christmas put away, and doing laundry.  Put the cleaning off and will work on that evenings and next Saturday.  The dinner party starts at 6:00 p.m., so I'll have plenty of time to prepare.

Looking forward to Downton Abbey tonight!  I am going to stay up for it.  I am usually in bed by 9:30 or 10:00.  It won't be over until 11:00.  Monday will be a day of yawning!  ;)

We have a beautiful day, today.  Able to have the doors and windows open, with the ceiling fans on.  Love this weather!!

Wishing you a good Sunday and week ahead!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Old age brings with it the worries about medical care and pharmacy costs. We shouldn't have to worry in old age, about anything anymore. Good for Joe to be on the mend. Keep using that bleach to protect yourself. I always manage to stain something with that stuff. I think I must be sloppy.

  2. I sure do hate to hear that about Joe....he has had a rough time, but maybe these medicines (especially at that price) will do the trick. Will certainly pray for him, and I know you will enjoy the first Downton Abbey of the new season. Hugs.

  3. Oh so sorry to hear this, I really hope that he will be feeling better soon. Can't believe what it cost you just for some cough syrup and antibiotics. I am so grateful for our National Health Service.

  6. We have a grey cold day here, but yesrerday was amazingly bright. Hopefully we'll get some rain sometime this week.

I'm glad Joe was 'forced' to go to the doctor's and hope he's a lot better for your dinner party this coming weekend.

  9. Eek to the cost of the meds! Who ever heard of coughing as a cause of an infection? But I did have a blocked salivary gland once many years ago. Of course, I thought it was a tumor, thought I was dying, etc.

My outside Christmas is put away, but my inside Christmas is still making me happy. :-)

    1. We're just the opposite. Inside is done, but the lights are still up (not lighted) outside. Joe has been too sick and I can't climb a ladder. Maybe this weekend....
