Off and running in 2013.....
Not!!!
Joe is sick. He has caught a nasty cold and I have banished him to the bed for the day. The Christmas decorations can wait for the weekend to be put away. My main project today is to sanitize everything and do my best to not catch what he has!! Happy New Year! LOL
The weather is beautiful today. The doors and windows are open to a wonderful breeze. A high is predicted of 73 today. Perfect!
I put the pork roast in the crock pot this morning, at 8:00 a.m. It is beginning to smell delicious! We will also have kraut, black-eyed peas and some mashed potatoes. A combination of north and south traditions, for good luck in the coming year! I hope Joe will be able to taste!
I just watched the Rose Parade. The floats are so pretty, and I am always amazed at what they can do with live flowers.
We went to bed last night, shortly after 10:00. Joe was tired (and now we know why) and I didn't want to sit up for another two hours. Luckily, he got up to go to the bathroom, which woke me up at 11:55! I turned on the bedroom TV and we both watched the ball drop in Times Square - so we can say we saw it happen and welcomed the new year properly! LOL Went right back to sleep after that!
My wish for you all is for a blessed, joyful new year! We all know there will be tears along with the laughter and fun, but let it all be blessed, and may we have the strength and faith needed to see it all through! Keep the joy in your life, no matter what!
God bless you! Thanks so much for your friendship here! Peace, love & hugs!

I send those blessing back to you. The village is very quiet this morning and it is overcast. I decided to start the year with fried tomatoes in a non-stick pan. But instead of sprinkling Lawrey's Seasoning Salt on them I grabbed the cinnamon. They both have red tops. Talk about turning into a ditzy old woman. I had to eat them anyhow. Tomatoes are too expensive here in the winter. I don't think it is something that will catch on with cooks.
ReplyDeleteOh shucks, I am sorry to hear Joe has a cold....just no fun, and hope you dont get the bug either. It is raining here, so just being a lazy bum today. I too am watching the Rose Parade....Years ago Jim and I went to the Rose Bowl, but it was to see UT play UCLA...lol I was surprised at the size of it and how it was set up. Maybe because the UT stadium is so huge that it made that one seem small. All the concessions were outside in the parking lot???? Odd to us. Anyway, take care of Joe and you too! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOH.. I'm sorry that Joe got sick.. what a hot good time.. the beginning of the new year.. But, maybe he won't have another one till the end of this year.. . what a wishful thought.
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved watching the Rose Parade while living in Southern California.. And this morning i watched just a bit of it. Its not the same as when I lived in Calif..
But now you are making me jealous..LOL.. I should have been there in Florida at this time.. and living in that nice warm weather.. with a breeze and windows and doors open... OH.. boy... boo hoo......LOL.
Happy New Year to you and yours...
Ahhh, poor Joe. Hope he gets well real soon and doesn't pass it on to you. In any marriage, there are just some things you shouldn't share. hahahaha
ReplyDelete73°? I'm jealous. How about 21° and down to 9° tonight? No? I didn't think so.
Bob and I stayed up to see the midnight hour, then I went to bed. That's about as excited as I can get anymore.
You have a good evening and take care.
Lots of people seem to getting sick. Hope Joe gets better soon.
ReplyDeletePoor Joe. Hope he gets better soon. Dinner sounds yummy. We had unexpected company so we ordered pizza. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHope Joe feels better very soon and that you will stay healthy. Your meal sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteA happy new year to you too. I hope that Joe is soon on the mend and that you don't catch it.
ReplyDeleteEek to a sick Joe! I hope it's not the flu. That is taking a major toll on people this year.
ReplyDeleteI watched most of the parade, after my daughter called to remind me about it! Today was a cold, rainy day. But it wasn't near as cold as Mom has in IL. She told me it was supposed to get UP to 14 degrees tomorrow! :-O
I'm so sorry to hear Joe isn't feeling well. Saying a prayer this morning that he is feeling better soon! Your "good luck" meal sounds so yummy! Wishing you all the best in 2013!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that Joe is sick hope he is well very soon. Hope too that you do not get sick. Sending up prayers for the both of you. Your meal sounds delicious. Hope all wonderful things come to you in 2013 sweet Terri and thank you for being my blogging friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHope Joe is feeling better really soon! If you like garlic, may I suggest eating much of it. That's my defense against getting sick. I crush it raw and eat a few bits through out the day with plenty of water. Yes, I start to take on an Italian aroma, LOL, but it works for me.
