March 23rd: Monday Musings

The weekend is over again!  They do seem to go by faster and faster.  (And I did notice that my Tuesday 4 was posted on Sunday instead of on Tuesday.  What day is it?!!)

I already posted that Mari and Bob left on Thursday morning.  The Mas Verde group went to Beef O'Brady's on Thursday evening.  There were seven of us.  It was a good group and a good time, and the food was good, too!

Neighbor Susan and I had tickets for this...

It was fun to see.  Susan is an accomplished seamstress.  I was in sticker shock at the cost of fabric these days.  Good golly!!  I grew up with my mom making most of our clothes because it was economical.  Not now!  Whew!  It was interesting to see all the projects there, as well as all the sewing notions and doodads.  We saw a demo for a $200 steam iron!!  Oh, and sewing machines well over $1,000!!  Sewing is an expensive hobby!  We were there a couple of hours, and then went to lunch at Deena's Diner.  We had a great time.

I didn't do much of anything on Saturday, other than piddle around.  Sunday was church and then my usual laundry.  I did watch the new Peaky Blinders movie on Netflix.  I am also catching up on the new season of Virgin River and am enjoying it.

The week ahead... I'm having lunch with Shirley on Tuesday.  Her son, David, is joining us because he found the restaurant we are trying.  It will be fun.  Bible study on Thursday, the dinner group on Thursday evening, and I'm having Danon, Mali, Wendy, and Gary over on Saturday for dinner and conversation.  I'm looking forward to seeing them and enjoying their company.

How does your week ahead look?

Peace and Hugs!

We'll join the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all!

  1. Hello to you in Florida! I'm in Georgia, just up the road from you, albeit one choked with lots of traffic. L O L!! Mari mentioned you in her blog so thought I woukd pop in and say "hey". I admire anyone who can sew! I did a recent post about a quilter, they honored her with a postal stamp.

  2. I remember when sewing was the less expensive alternative to buying clothes too. Not so much anymore. I do love looking at beautiful fabric though : ) Have a nice week Terri.

  3. Yes, it certainly feels like time is passing way too quickly these days, Terri. Happy to know that yours are filled with friends and fun activities. Nothing much planned here for the week except for our house cleaner coming on Wednesday. Love that we can get some help now and then. Have a great week!

  4. Yes, my mother and I both made my clothes when I was a teen. She even made my wedding dress. It was a much more economical alternative then...57 years ago...but certainly not now, although I think it would still be cheaper to make your own wedding dress than to pay what they want for them. I used to be a good seamstress, but years away from it I find it very frustrating now, plus I don't have a really good machine and it makes me throw things most of the time when I try to use it so I just gave up! LOL. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead. I don't see too much on our calendar this week, which is kind of nice for a change. Bible study this afternoon, choir practice tomorrow night, and after that it's up for grabs. Have a wonderful week ahead. We've got some beautiful weather, even if we do need rain! :)

  5. I'm glad you and Susan enjoyed the show. You're right - sewing is no longer economical!
You have a busy week coming up - we do too!
We're missing you though. Bob keeps says "that was such a nice time!"

  6. The sewing expo sounds like fun. It does sound like a very expensive hobby though! It sounds like you have a good week planned.

  8. It was fun at the RP Sewing Expo, but Terri is right, everything was soooo expensive! Although we did find some cool cork wallets at a reasonable price! Terri is too kind. I am no where near a seamstress.

  9. Dear Terri, I took sewing in high school but unfortunately I never bought a sewing machine and my mother never had one, so I didn't continue.
I do love ❤️ to see the creations of those who do sew, as well as crafts and artwork.

  10. Whaaaat(!?) on those prices? My mother also sewed most of my clothes -- I'm not sure if it was for enjoyment or economics; I just wish I'd been more appreciative. We've a Beef O'Brady's nearby; I'm thinking we should check it out sometime.

  11. This week for me will be less busy than the last few weeks. But besides work, we're having some furniture delivered on Thursday and then Beth has a doctor's appointment on Friday.
That expo sounds fun. I bet there were some amazing things there! My mom sewed mine and my sisters clothes when we were growing up too. It was a lot less expensive than buying them in the stores back then. It doesn't sound that way now!
'We'll join the everlasting song and crown Him Lord of all!' Great lyrics to a great song!
    Have a great week Terri.

  12. You know Terri - I am shocked at the cost of everything these days - especially groceries. I just can't believe it. You are always so busy. I am watching Virgin River too. Very good.
