October 4th: The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  Y'all can join in HERE!

That's So True

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions; however, here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: That's So True (2024)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Gracie Abrams can't stop thinking about her ex. Who is on your mind this morning?  I have friends here through Tuesday, so right now it's all about them.  Judy and I worked together at the American Red Cross in DC, back in the early '80s.  Her daughter, Brooke, travels with her.  They were here back in 2019, so we have lots to catch up on.

2) She wonders if she should warn his new girl about him. Think of the last time someone offered you advice. Did you take it?  Yes.  I asked my son, Joey, if the roofing contract seemed okay.  He agreed.  The roofer will be here in two weeks!

3) She concludes her old boyfriend wasn't worthy of her love and attention, and now sees him as "just another dude." What is something you regret spending time on? (It doesn't have to be a romance.)  I could whine about a couple of things, but I really don't even regret mistakes because I learned from them.  I always believe that God is in control and I'm on the path he has created for me (from the womb!).

4) On July 31, Gracie Abrams performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago. More than 100,000 attended the first day of the outdoor festival. It was sunny and 79º. Describe your perfect day (weather-wise).  Sunny, 75*, low humidity.  It's coming for us here in Florida!

5) Gracie's father is J.J. Abrams, perhaps best known for directing the 2009 Star Trek movie and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Would you rather watch Star Trek or Star Wars?  I am not into that genre, and have never watched Star Trek.  I don't really care to watch Star Wars again.  How about Galaxy Quest?!!  I love that movie!!

6) She is very much a 21st-century artist in that she doesn't rely on radio to introduce her music to her fans, often sharing demos on TikTok. Do you watch or create content for TikTok?  I have never looked at TikTok and don't have an account.

7) In 2024, when "That's So True" was released, Madonna set a record. Her free concert in Brazil drew the largest audience (1.6 million) ever. What's your favorite Madonna song?  Sorry, but I've never been a fan of Madonna.  The only song that comes to mind is Material Girl.

8) Also in 2024, former President Jimmy Carter died. In addition to his work in politics and philanthropy, Mr. Carter wrote more than 30 books. Who wrote the last book you finished?  I would give it 3.5 stars.

Book by Leah Orr
9) Random question: What sound stresses you out?  Rattling in the car.  Screeching chalk on a chalkboard. They don't really stress me out; they just bug me.
Peace and Hugs!

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

  1. I can't believe you never watched Star Trek! LOL. My hubby STILL watches the OLD reruns. We never watched the newer version, just the old with Captain Kirk and Spock and gang. We also watched the older Star Wars movies because we have boys who really "needed" to see them, but it wasn't until they were a little older. They did get a lot of Star Wars toys back in the day. I wish we still had them...they are collectors items now. LOL. No, I don't really wish we still had them...we actually gave them all away to a little boy in our church when we moved away from there and our kids were done playing with them.
No Tik Tok for me either. I can barely keep up with Facebook and Blogger! LOL. Have a lovely weekend with your friends.

  4. I understand that God has preordained our lives but has He not also given us Free Will? Do you believe He is in both, as I do? I hope the roof turns out well. Enjoy your friends!

  5. I never heard of Galaxy Quest, but like you have never watched any of the "Star" franchises. No interest in them -- or TikTok. I hope you're having a blast with your friends!

  6. What a great answer! Car sounds. That does stress me out too.
I do not stress over mistakes, that is how we learn and grow.
I am so excited you are getting a new roof! We need to replace our roof too. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I did not know J.J. Abrams is Gracie's dad, you learn something new everyday! I've never watched Star Wars but don't mind Star Trek.

  11. You don’t regret mistakes because you have learned from them. That is such a wise attitude.

Regarding the Star Wars and Star Trek movies — that’s a part of my life that passed on a few years ago. But back in the day, my family was all over it.

I, too, am not into TikTok. It’s enough to keep up with Facebook and blogging!!

As for a sound stresses me out? This week both our HOA and a next door neighbor spent HOURS trimming some huge hedges. It was exhausting to hear.
