Click right HERE to be a Hodgepodger!  Thank you, Joyce, for all the fun again this week!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 623

From this Side of the Pond
1. 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' How does this saying ring true in your own family, either the one you grew up in or the one you made?  LOL.. I say all the time that I turn into my dad (who taught me to drive) when I get behind the wheel.  It's not rage or anger, just bad-talking idiot drivers in front of me, and that's usually with a laugh and a "thank you, Dad"!!  I've been told a couple of times that I remind someone of my mom.  That's the biggest compliment that anyone could give me (but I don't hold a candle to her and know that!).

2. Something you're nuts about these days? How about something that's driving you nuts? Crazy drivers drive me nuts.  I am nuts about America (hopefully), respectfully returning to God.  Thank you, Jesus!

3. What does abundance mean to you?  Over-flowing blessings.

4. Caramel apple-caramel cake-caramel corn-caramel sundae-caramel macchiatto...what's your caramel treat of choice?  Yes, please. Any and all of those.  I love caramel, toffee, dulce de leche... whatever you call it!!

5. What's a childhood memory that always comes to mind as the leaves start to fall?  I grew up in Ohio, with a beautiful Maple tree in the backyard.  I put a platform in that tree and would climb up there with Nancy Drew, passing a couple of hours reading, feeling the cool breeze, and watching the red/yellow leaves get ready to fall...

6. Insert your own random thought here. My guests left this afternoon, but asked if they could change their plans and return at the end of their time in Florida for a few more nights (16th - 20th).  The friend they are visiting in the Daytona area has not been feeling well. They are concerned about making things more difficult for her.  I will leave their beds made, will wash their towels, and look forward to a few more fun days ahead.  They have requested that we go to Lake Kissimmee for an airboat ride at the Grape Hammock Fish Camp!!  We're gonna see some alligators and have some fun!  I haven't been there since well before Covid!!

Peace and Hugs!

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

  1. Sounds like a fun day trip with your friends. I hope it all works out! Your tree-"platform" in the maple tree that you had as a child sounds like a dreamy place. I would've LOVED that! I used to beg my daddy to build me a tree house, but alas! In Florida we only had tall skinny pine trees in our yard and no good place for a tree house. My sister and I built a few forts in the woods, but still, in Florida...well, hot, buggy, and the concern for snakes in the woods kepts us from spending too much time there. Regarding crazy drivers, etc., it's amazing how different it feels when you are driving as opposed to being the passenger! When hubby is driving he has lots of words about the other drivers and I just try to keep quiet and not get involved. But then when I'm driving, I begin to understand why he gets so upset...and I find myself having a few words as well. LOL. The roads are not a very safe place anymore, that's for sure. I'm just thankful we don't have to drive in ice and snow! LOL.

  2. Ha! I used to get irritated with my mom for being an impatient driver, and now? I'm just like her!
I love the memory you shared. I have similar ones, right down to reading Nancy Drew.

  3. I just found a box of our Nancy Drew books the other day in going through some storage. I'm going to reread a couple. I remember The Hidden Staircase scaring the daylights out of me when I was young. That airboat ride sounds like fun!

  4. I had a tree fort and loved to lie in there and read--my little brother could never understand the attraction! lol Glad you will see your friends again so soon! The day trip sounds great!

  5. How wonderful it will be to see your friends again, Terri, and so unexpectedly! Have a great time riding the airboats and see some gators for me.

  7. My brother and I dragged a board, probably not a whole pallet that might have been safer, into our apple tree to pretend it was our tree house. As a mom, if I looked out the window and saw my kids perched on a loose board in a tree, I would loose my mind! lol But I love the romance of a good book in a tree.

  8. What a testament to your hospitality that your friends want to come back! The only trees I remember climbing were Ponderosa Pine, but it never occurred to me to want a platform. Lucky duck! (lol)

  9. If you want a disgruntled driver - check my husband. He is something else!

  10. That did make me chuckle about when you are driving and spending time up the maple tree sounds wonderful.
How great to have your friends stopping by again later in the month.
