OCTOBER 1st: The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to our hostess, Joyce, for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 622

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's your favorite fall scent?  Cinnamon.  Would we find this in or around your home right now?  I have a fall candle that smells like cinnamon that sits on the windowsill in the kitchen.

2. October is Country Music Month...are you a fan of country music?  I like classic country.  Do you have a favorite country artist?  Alan Jackson, Reba, Willie...  Ever been to Nashville?  No, but it's on my bucket list.  In terms of lifestyle, are you more country mouse or city mouse?  Definitely country.

3. How about 'country cooking'? (loosely defined as rich flavors, familiar foods, large portions, often fried, and often associated with the southern region of the US of A)?

chicken and dumplings-fried chicken-shrimp and grits-biscuits and gravy-mac and cheese-fried green tomatoes-cornbread-collard or turnip greens-deviled eggs-'barbecue'-gumbo-banana pudding

Which of the foods listed is your favorite? Any on the list you haven't tried or would say a firm no thank you to if offered?  I'm from the Midwest (Ohio), but have been in Florida for 36 years, and Virginia for 8 years before Florida.  I'm not fond of collards, so I'll leave them and the banana pudding for someone else.  All the other foods could be found on my plate, and I have tried them all.  Yum.

4. What's something that always has a positive impact on your mood?  Good food!  Good friends!  Cats, dogs, horses, animals in general...

5. As we say so long to September, share a noun, a verb, and an adjective that tells us something about how that month looked for you.  Fun.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Speaking of fun... I started doing a 'color by number' game on my phone, once a day.  You can guess that I usually look for a cat picture.  I won't post them all (lots) but here are a few I've done recently.  I'm not looking for compliments (they aren't my art!), but just want you to know these are a lot of fun to do.  They aren't difficult, and I find them to be calming.  The app I use is called Happy Color, but there are a lot of them to  try.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Peace & Hugs!!

Praise to the Lord,
The Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him,
For He is thy Health and Salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.

  3. Banana pudding is one of hubs favorites. I like it, but can only eat a bite or two as it's so rich. Daughter1's mother-in-law always brings it for dessert if she's coming here because she knows it's a favorite of the hubs. I am on the hunt for a nice cinnamon scented candle. Have a great day!

  4. I like classic country too - especially Willie Nelson. I've been to Nashville several times because our son lives near it and often takes us when we visit.
Terri! Banana pudding is so, so good - and I'm not even Southern! :)
    Glad you're enjoying Happy Color.

  5. Cinnamon is such a warm, comforting scent for fall. I keep a few candles around the house too. I enjoy classic country as well. Alan Jackson and Reba are timeless. In terms of lifestyle, I lean more toward country than city. As for the food, I’d happily have fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese, and cornbread on my plate. September for me could be summed up as: leafing (verb), harvest (noun), and golden (adjective). I like the idea of the color-by-number app. It sounds like a calm, enjoyable way to spend a few minutes each day.

  6. Cinnamon is such a lovely scent, especially for this time of year!
Your answers for #4 did make me smile, they are enough to boost the most negative mood.
The colour by numbers app looks great! What pretty pictures.

  7. One a day sounds like a good idea. I tend to get addicted to the games so I don't have any on my phone:)
I am a country music girl and a country foods girl as well.

  8. I love cinnamon scents and also coffee/espresso scents too. I'm more of a city girl. I love the convenience of being close to everything. I love banana pudding and southern fried chicken! Terri, I love your pictures! They are so beautiful. What a fun thing to do on your phone!

  9. What a fun and whimsical app you found, Terri! I love the colors you chose for each one. I do love country music and Danny makes the best collard greens I've ever tasted. I also love shrimp and grits. Blessings!

  10. One of these days, Southern cooking's going to be my downfall. With the exception of shrimp and grits (shellfish allergy) and mac-n-cheese, I love it all.
I'm going to look up that coloring app tonight!

  11. I love the cat pictures, especially the ones with the orange cat in them. I've become rather partial to orange cats with black cats together for some reason. The coloring app looks like fun. Funny, I'm not a huge banana pudding fan either. My taste for bananas in general seems to have gone downhill in my "old age", except for the banana nut bread I make because we didn't eat the bananas in time. LOL> I enjoyed your post as always. Sorry I've been so absent lately. No particular reason except just seems like we've been doing other things and I don't have time to sit and read and write like I want to. I miss keeping up with everyone, and I'm trying to play catch up, but gee...it takes a while! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.

  13. You're the only person I've 'met' who does Happy Color. I do. It too but can't limit myself to one a day. In fact, I overtire myself every time I get on it because it's so addictive.

  14. I like the colored pictures you did. I love cinnamon too. Also, like country music and Christian songs. You ought to try kale and collards just once. I love them.
