October Reading
- How do you relax in the evening after dinner? I usually watch some TV with my laptop on my lap, multitasking through blogs.
- Do you read in bed? What kind of books do you read? I do read in bed and use my Kindle. I like cozy mysteries because they are easy reads.
- Do you have a list of books you look forward to reading? I have hundreds of books saved on my Kindle, but they are in no certain order.
- What is the best book you've ever read and why? Or.. how about the worst book you feel you wasted time reading? Last question first, I don't waste time on a book I'm not enjoying. If I am not intrigued by the end of the second chapter, I mark it "read" and move on. Several books are on my favorite list, and I have read them all three or four (or more) times. Gone With The Wind; The Once and Future King; Pillars of the Earth; A Land Remembered.

My guests are still here, but are leaving this afternoon. We have had a good time just being lazy and not doing much of anything other than catching up on our lives and relaxing. They arrived on Friday, and I had supper ready. It was a chicken, rice, veggie, and cheese casserole that they liked enough to ask me for the recipe. We had leftovers and a fresh salad on Saturday. They wanted a PJ day, so that's what they got. On Sunday, they accompanied me to church. We went to Tampa to pick up Anne at the Moffitt Cancer Center. They took me out for dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Gosh Asian Bistro. We ate leftovers from there yesterday.
Speaking of yesterday, Brooke had a massage appointment, I took my friend, Cheryl, out for her birthday lunch at Bonefish Grill, and Judy had a facial appointment later. It was just another relaxing day.
This morning, I have to visit the lab for a blood draw, and I will be sad to bid them farewell after lunch. They are heading a couple of hours north to visit family and an aunt who is celebrating her 101st birthday! Wow! I'm gonna miss my friends and sure hope they come back sooner than six years next time!!
I say 'wow,' because one of our church members had a 101st birthday this week, and there was a small reception after the church service. God bless these amazing people!

Your evening sounds the same as mine. I always watch TV after dinner with my laptop.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have had a lovely time with your guests.
Oh wow! 101 is an amazing age!
I'm so glad you have had such a nice visit with your friends. I love your fall top too! I love the picture of the 101 year old man and his wife! What a blessing, and he looks really good for his age! I love the train decor. He must be a train buff? Does he collect trains, or was he in the railroad business? He looks like he and my Daddy would've been good friends. My daddy collected Lionel trains and had quite a collection. Hope your lab work comes out all perfect. Take care and have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI relax in the evening in the very same way you do. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're having such a good time with your friends.
Happy Birthday to Carwin! I remember you talking about him before, pretty incredible.
So glad you have had a wonderful visit! Goodbyes are bittersweet!
ReplyDeleteDanny and I enjoy playing backgammon after dinner. It's both fun and relaxing. So glad you had a wonderful time with your friends, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI like visits where you can just be yourself and breathe - seems like it was just that way.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to have good friends visit and to be able to relax with them. It sounds like you all had a great time. Happy birthday to your friend at church! He sure looks good for 101 years young.
ReplyDeleteI actually tried taking a book to bed with me last night, but sadly, those days are long gone. So glad you and your friends enjoyed a wonderful few days together, and they enjoyed meeting your friends. Carwin's cake is so cute ... and so are y'all. Love the blouse, Terri!
ReplyDeleteYou are the one that inspired me to put down a book if I cannot get into it early on. I tried reading books all the way through for so long just in case they got good and I was just wasting my time. You saved me a lot of time making me think about if it doesn't catch my attention, it is probably not for me. Thank-you for that.
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks so cute all decorated for Halloween. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.
