October 18th: The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join the fun HERE!

Into the Groove

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Into the Groove (1985)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Madonna begins this song by telling us, "I'm waiting." What's something you're waiting for today? I'm not waiting for anything today.

2) She sings that dancing gives her a feeling so good she hopes it will never end. What reliably lifts your spirits?  Family and friends.  I am very blessed.

3) As a schoolgirl in Michigan, Madonna was a good student but could be disruptive. Classmates recall her doing cartwheels in the halls between classes. Can you do a cartwheel?  LOL  no, not anymore, but there was a time when I could.  I'm an old lady with metal knees now!!

4) It's not surprising that a girl from the Detroit area would love cars. Madonna's car collection is valued at more than $2 million. The one she seems to drive most often is a 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV. Insurance industry data tells us Americans typically keep their cars for 8 years. How long have you had your current vehicle?  Eight years, this year.  I only have 70,000 miles on it and hope it lasts me another eight years!  Joe and I typically kept/keep our cars for 12 years if they are/were running well.  That way, we only had one car payment.  He got a new car, and when it was paid off, I got a new car.  We didn't buy used cars, but took good care of our new cars.

5) She has referred to Nancy Sinatra as one of her idols, saying "These Boots Were Made for Walking" and its accompanying video impressed her when she was a little girl. What pop song brings back memories from your childhood?  The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction was the first 'rock' song I took an interest in I was never a Beatles fan, but they hit the USA when I was in Jr. High School, so there's that.  When I was nine years old, it was Ricky Nelson's Travelin' Man.

6) Madonna suffers from brontophobia, or the fear of thunder and lightning. Are you afraid of storms?  No.  I have a healthy respect for hurricanes, however.

7) In 1985, when this song was popular, the Titanic wreckage was discovered. There have been at least a dozen movies about that ill-fated ship. Have you seen any of them?  I have seen the Titanic movie (own the DVD) and have seen a few documentaries on TV about the wreck.

8) Also in 1985Bruce Willis became a star with a hit show about a detective agency. Can you name it? (Extra non-existent points if you can recall the agency's name.)  I LOVED Moonlighting, and the Blue Moon Detective Agency!!  (And I didn't have to look it up!)  Cybill Shepherd was the co-star.

9) Random question: Describe your perfect ice cream sundae.  A large dip of chocolate (or French vanilla) ice cream, rolled in chopped pecans (or walnuts), drenched in hot fudge, a dollop of real whipped cream, and a cherry on top (of course).

Peace and Hugs!

"Blue Moon Detective Agency.
If persons are missing, if objects are lost,
we'll find them for you at a reasonable cost."

  2. We moved near to my aunt and uncle when I was just starting jr. high and my cousins had left their extensive record collection behind when they moved on. I was allowed to borrow the albums any time I wanted as long as I took care of them. They had some amazing vinyl. It was during that time (10 years or more after the rest of the country) that I discovered the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  3. The car I had before the new one I got in February is 23 years old and still running (Josh is driving it). That is why I got a new version, hoping it will last for a long time. Cars are so expensive. I hope your car lasts a long time too. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

  4. I'm impressed that you could do a cartwheel! Moonlighting was one of my favorite shows; what a great team Bruce and Cybill made. I sure dislike making car payments but had no choice. Now, if only interest rates would fall a little more, I MIGHT be tempted to accept the fact they're going to be my new normal.
I hope you and the gals are having a great day!

  5. Danny and I are the same way when it comes to cars. Take good care of the one you have so you don't have to replace it! I'm driving a 2006 Scion and he has a 2012 Subaru; our plan is to not replace either of them unless we absolutely have to. Have a great weekend, Terri!

  6. I didn't even recognize Madonna - I am so out of it. Loved Moonlighting. My car is a 2000 Honda CRV with 215K miles on it - Betsy - and I love her so much. Still strong and running and I do take care of her!

  7. I remember being able to do cartwheels, not anymore! lol
My dad had his car for 22 years before it stopped running earlier this year, I dread to think how many miles were on it.

  8. Not a fan of Madonna here, but this was interesting reading. I thought she was from the UK.
