Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 616
2. Tell us about a favorite food-related memory. I've written about Italy before, but I will tell it again. In Orvieto, Joe and I visited an off-the-beaten-path restaurant for lunch. I ordered white truffle pasta because I had never tried truffle anything before. The entire experience, including the waiter shaving the truffles and lifting the domed lid from the plate, releasing the fragrant steam... was merely enhanced by the food, but suffice it to say that the pasta was truly exceptional. I believe I have actually said that the meal experience there was 'better than sex'. LOL
3. What are some things you find particularly peaceful or calming? Having a purring cat curled on my lap. A hot cup of coffee in the morning. Loved ones in my living room. A soft rain feeding the earth.
4. Is there something you do now that gets you just as excited as it did when you were a child? Reading a really good book! I have loved reading since first grade, even though I have lately hit a slump of sorts.
5. To what degree are you in touch with friends from grade school? high school? college if you attended college? Thanks to Facebook, I am in touch with many. I'm from a small town and still have friends from fifth grade through high school. (Kindergarten through 4th grade were in a town we moved 60 miles away from, so I don't still have friends from those earlier years.) I didn't go to college until later in life, but I have many friends who started as coworkers in various jobs I've had. I'm very blessed by the people in my life.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I don't usually have trouble with needle sticks when visiting the lab for bloodwork. The phlebotomist yesterday morning was great. I barely felt the stick. She wrapped me up, and off I went. At the elevator, I noticed that I had bled through the gauze and the elastic bandage! Whoa! Back to the lab I went and asked her to wrap me up again. A bigger gauze and a tighter bandage did the trick, and I was off to Publix. I ordered a birthday cake for Shirley and David, and will pick it up on Thursday for Friday's party. I also got some vanilla ice cream to have with it.

I used to not have trouble with sticks, but these days have to make sure I've had a lot of water before hand or they struggle to find the vein. That Italian lunch sounds like my kind of meal! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThose are good peaceful thoughts! I felt calm reading them.
ReplyDeleteThey always have trouble finding my veins resulting in several pokes.
I see about 5-6 high school friends every 4-5 weeks for breakfast. Looking forward to seeing them next week!
I rarely have trouble with lab pricks either but glad your 'leak' was remedied quickly!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually have trouble but just reading about that makes me a teeny bit woozy. Have you read Kate Atkinson? Her book "Life After Life" was good, and her Jackson Brodie books, not sure their titles, but if you see what your library has, or kindle or whatever. I just read "Behind the Scenes at the Museum", and it was so good!
ReplyDeleteFacebook was and is a great way to keep up with family.... Full stop there...other than that...
ReplyDeleteWell, From unforgettable truffle pasta in Italy to peaceful mornings with a purring cat and coffee, it’s all about savoring life’s small joys. Friends, reading, and even funny lab mishaps make everyday moments special and memorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall reading about your "better than sex" luncheon in Orvieto, but it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Truffles? I need to put that on my Things To Try Before I Die list. Your pasta-loving avatar cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not a big ice cream eater, I know my husband would stand in line to get a dip of his favorite ice cream (butter pecan). I can only imagine how good the food is in Italy...maybe someday I will be able to go there. I'm not a fan of having lab work done as I have those deep veins and it is difficult for them to get my blood with the first stick...Have a wonderful day
ReplyDeleteI love my first cup of coffee in the morning and going outside on the deck before the day is stirring. Always so calming and peaceful. I liked all your answers, Terri. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried truffle anything but now I'm looking forward to sampling it. I loved your expression "A soft rain feeding the earth". We certainly need it here in the Pacific Northwest where everyone's lawn is brown.
ReplyDeleteTruffles are mushrooms - I like mushrooms, but not sure about the Truffle thing. I can picture your morning with your cats on your lap and coffee. I love that first cup of coffee - actually I live for it - but I don't have a second!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That pasta does sound amazing, it sounds like a whole experience.
ReplyDeleteAhh! A purring cat is so calming. I hadn't even thought of that.
Loved your answers to #3....even sounds peaceful! Glad all was well with your needle stick. I wonder why that happens sometimes!?! I enjoyed reading your answers today!
