The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Big thanks to Joyce for today's Hodgepodge of questions!  You can join the fun HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 598

From this Side of the Pond

1. Do you complete your own taxes?  No.  Besides actual taxes, what's something you've found taxing lately?  This has been a crazy week for me with three gatherings of friends that includes/included feeding 8, 10, and 10.  I do enjoy it, though, and love being able to entertain loved ones.  It is taxing, but it isn't taxing... makes sense to me!  LOL

2.  What are three values you treasure most in a friendship?  Trust, Respect, Fun

3. Do you meal plan or do you mostly wing it? Share your dinner menus for this week.  I only meal plan when company is coming to visit and for holidays.  Easter is this week, and that is the only day I have planned right now.  Ham, mac and cheese, broccoli, deviled eggs, pickle plate.  Guests offered and are bringing coconut cake for dessert, a salad, rolls, and charcuterie for an appetizer.

4. Thomas Sowell is credited as saying, ''There are no solutions, only trade-offs.' Agree or disagree? Discuss.  I don't agree.  It's almost 10 pm and I am too tired to get into a discussion.

5. What's the best perk you've enjoyed at a job?  I spent most of my working life in the non-profit world.  Lower pay, but great benefits like 100% paid health insurance, I had five weeks of vacation (after 15 years), two weeks of sick leave each year that rolled over, and twelve paid holidays that included your birthday.  Not bad, not bad at all.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  I am off for the day with my friend Mali.  We are going to explore Ft. De Soto Park.  I've never been, but Mali has been many times and loves it.  I will have lots of photos for Friday!!  My church group dinner at my house last night went well.  Everyone seemed to like my offerings, and we had a good time talking.  We haven't found a book or Bible study to start yet, so it was just a social gathering that we ended with prayer requests.

Peace and Hugs!

Thank you, Jesus!

  1. Oh, I hope you have a beautiful day today at the park. Sounds wonderful!! Can't wait to see the pictures. Yes, you've certainly been busy with cooking and entertaining lately! I don't know how you do it all, but I know you enjoy it and your friends enjoy being with you. I miss having that kind of fellowship, but I don't have the stamina to do that much cooking anymore. People here don't do much entertaining in their homes it seems. So if we do anything, we go out to eat to meet friends, which is much more relaxing when you don't have to cook. LOL. I hope you have a great day today.

  2. I've been to Ft. De Soto...enjoy your day there! You've had a lot of big cooking this week, but I know your hospitality is appreciated. I will have 11 here for dinner on Sunday but guests are bringing dishes to add to the meal which is nice. Have a great day!

  3. I totally get your taxing but not taxing comment. We have the kids coming Sat night and friends coming Sunday, so I'm going to be busy, but am looking forward to it too.
    Enjoy your day with Mali!

  5. Trust and respect, indeed! I hadn't really thought of the latter, yet I immediately went to a dear friend whose religious and political beliefs differ greatly from my own. Thankfully I respect her right to believe what she will, but still hold her in my prayers.
That benefits package from the museum is like nothing I've ever heard!

  8. I hope you had a wonderful day with your friend. You are a busy gal. I know what you mean by meal planning when you have guests! The solutions and tradeoffs - maybe a compromise. is a better word.
