The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to our hostess, Joyce, for today's questions!  You can join the fun HERE!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 597

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's a lesson you've learned from a mistake?  I have made so many mistakes in my life, and hope I have learned from all of them.  How about don't play with dad's tools when you've been told not to touch them!  Thirteen stitches later, I learned to listen... and the scar always reminds me!

2. Do you salt food while you're cooking or let diners add their own? If the recipe calls for salt, I do add it, but I go lighter when winging it so folks can salt it to their taste.  What's a food you think must be salted?  Potatoes, no matter how they are prepared.  Do you like pepper?  Yes, I do like pepper!

3. What was the last gathering you attended, and what did you do there?  If we consider church a gathering (of believers) then church, for worship.  I gathered with friends for dinner out last Thursday... we talked and ate and enjoyed each others' company!

4. Your favorite shade of purple?  I have always loved purple and will say my favorite would be the deepest jewel-tone.  What's your favorite purple flower? Lilacs, hands down.  They don't grow in Florida. :(

5. Share a favorite spring travel memory. It was Italy in late April/early May of 2007.  The entire 12-day trip will live in my heart forever!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Some of you may have seen on Facebook yesterday that I went to Sebring, FL, with my neighbor Susan and my friend Mali.  We all love HGTV and Hometown Takeover.  They did Sebring last year, and it is on TV right now.  I will post photos and tell you all about it on Friday Fotos!! Here are the two I posted on Facebook...

Peace and Hugs!

All hail the power of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

  2. Church definitely counts as a gathering. I love lilacs too and you don't see them here either. Now I'm wondering if we have too much heat and humidity for them to thrive. We had them in our UK garden and the smell was heavenly. Have a great day Terri!

  5. Yes, church counts for certain! My last gathering was last night for choir practice. We are working on our Easter Cantata, so it was pretty intense. And before that on Monday was our Ladies' Bible Study, and before that was church on Sunday. I can't wait to see your Sebring photos. I am going to sit down and watch the whole series of that soon. I love Hometown too. I love lilacs too and am so sad they don't grow in Florida. My mother grieved for them when we moved here.

  6. Scars are good reminders of lessons, aren't they? I do the salt and pepper the same way you do.
Where was the trip to? Venice? He always was smiling!

  7. Ooooh, that scar looks like it was an angry wound. I can't say 'why' but seeing images like this always make the backs of my legs tingle.
Joe had the best smile, didn't he? I know that trip is a priceless memory.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Sebring photos!

  8. Yep, don't touch dad's tools. I never once thought to touch his stuff. Nope. Never. But later in life, when he could no longer use them, he gave them to my husband, who I worked with on many projects for ourselves. Now my son has those tools and continuing the legacy of great woodworking. // Great photos of your trip! Have a very blessed day!

  9. Beautiful post. Love the Italian canal picture. I'm learning from mistakes and choices that may not have been wrong but that could have been handled better.

  10. Good answer to #1 - I have a few scars as a result of mistakes too, and they are good reminders of the lessons learned. What a fun HGTV photo!! Hope you're having a great week!

  11. Ouch! That sounds like a painful lesson to learn, that is quite the scar.
That is a shame that you don't get any Lilacs in Florida. I didn't know that.
It sounds like a great day to Sebring.

  12. I made the mistake of picking up white hot metal right after my dad finished welding--will never forget that pain!! Yes, I miss Lilacs, too, but I am not a big fan of purple! The trip to see the HGTV set had to be too cool!
