Friday Fotos...

Is it just me or are the days and weeks just flying by now?  I still have trouble remembering what day it is, now that I'm not working every morning.

Our Thursday Mas Verde dinner group was canceled because both Tim and Larry are sick.  Something must be going around.  I don't want it!!

On Wednesday, I had an appointment with the attorney I hired to do a new Will for me.  He went to our church and knew Joe.  I trust him and feel comfortable with him.  Got that process started.  My current Will would still be okay, but it was done about 30 years ago and really needs to be brought up to date.  My main concern is that my two sons will have it easy to handle when my time comes.

The one photo I have is one that I took in the front office at the attorney's office.  I think I might try making something like this out of popsicle sticks (I have two boxes of them for crafts).  I really need to find something to occupy some time now that I'm not working.  I will also be exploring a couple of volunteer options after the first of the year.  I am way too comfortable sitting in front of the TV for too many hours!  I thought this snowman was very cute and would be easy to copy with popsicle sticks and could be an ornament for the tree, perhaps.

I went to Bible study yesterday morning and did some laundry when I got home.  I'm starting to make a grocery list and get the menu for my small group finalized.  We are meeting Tuesday here at my house.  I am making baked ziti and will have a salad, some fruit, a pickle dish, and red velvet cake for dessert.  My birthday is Wednesday, and my mom always made a red velvet cake for my birthday.  Tradition!!

I am meeting Cheryl (Helen's niece) at Miller's Ale House today for an early dinner.  We treat each other to a birthday meal and she invited me for today.  She didn't come for Thanksgiving this year so it's been a while since we got together.  She's had some health issues which I hope are better now!

I've been watching The Great British Baking Show, including the holiday series and the American versions.  I have never been good at making yeast breads, except in my bread machine.  I ordered Paul Hollywood's bread recipe book and have decided I need to give bread making a try.  Any bread baking advice from my readers?  Do you watch this show?  I tried watching it a few years ago and couldn't get into it.  This time, I'm obsessed.

The next two weeks are full of labs, and doctor appointments.  My foot surgery is still scheduled in January and I need the cardiology tests done to assure the podiatrist that I am safe for surgery.  It's all good, and important to have peace of mind that all is well with my innards!!  Please, God.

Wishing you a good weekend ahead!!

Peace and Hugs!

  1. That snowman out of wood boards is adorable. And yes, you should be able to make something similar out of craft/popsicle sticks, Terri. Good luck with your bread making! Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. That snowman is cute! Looking forward to your mini version.
Good idea to update your will. We should do that too.
I love the British Bake Off, but can't get it right now as we don't have Netflix...

  3. I think that snowman will be adorable made out of popsicle sticks. I almost typed "made out of bread sticks" because I was thinking about your bread baking at the same time hahaha!

  4. I like that snowman.
Are you sorry you retired? I bet not. Just swapping things to do out. You sound like you have a lot of dinner plans and doctor appointments. Hope they work out - they will. Good luck with the bread!

  5. You're making a list, checking it twice ....
I totally 'get' what you're saying about being too comfortable watching the world go by from my recliner. Thanks for the mention of your Will. I need to move my Directives from the 'possibilities' list to the Make Happen one. While Tom's in denial, there's no reason I should do the same.
Enjoy your pre-birthday dinner with Helen!

  6. Happy Early Birthday, Terri! Enjoy every moment of the days that are, indeed, going by too quickly. I like that snowman, too. A popsicle stick version would make a cute ornament, for sure!

  8. Well Happy Birthday to you! Glad you're celebrating early, and hopefully more than once! I've only watched one complete season of the Great British Baking show, and I enjoyed the heck out of it, they are all so nice to each other, and supportive! The stuff they made had Cam and I looking at each other in astonishment, both the degree of difficulty and the weirdness. They would act like we know what that stuff is. Oh, just a regular sponge....banoffee pie.... What?!

  9. Oh, Happy Early Birthday, in case I forget! You are catching up to me in age, and you'll see how easy it is to forget things! LOL. Sounds like you are managing to keep plenty busy in your new retirement, but I do understand about the TV. We try to turn it off after breakfast and not watch it again until maybe during lunch. Hubby watches more than I do anyway as I am always busy doing something. You will soon find that retirement can be VERY busy! When is your foot surgery? Are we thinking about getting together before or after? Keep us posted about that. Take care and God bless you always. You are such a blessing to me!
