Saturday 9 Time...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's 9 questions!  You can join in HERE!

I Wouldn't Trade Christmas

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: I Wouldn't Trade Christmas (1968)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In addition to Christmas, this song name-checks many major holidays, including Mother's and Father's Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Valentine's Day. Which holiday is your favorite?  Christmas, but Thanksgiving is a very close 2nd.

2) The Sinatra family posed in all-white for this album cover in August 1968. Are there any pictures of you and your siblings in matching outfits?  The only one I remember is when my mom made us matching dresses for our town's sesquicentennial parade.  I've posted the picture before, but here it is again. My sisters are 6 and 9 years younger than me. They might have had matching outfits, but I don't remember any.

3) Nancy is the oldest of the Sinatra children. She's also the one who performed most often on TV and film with her famous father. She played his daughter (of course!) in a movie and appeared in two of his TV specials while he appeared in one of hers. In 1967, she and Frank scored a #1 single with a duet of "Somethin' Stupid." Have you ever worked with a family member or spouse? I worked with Joe in his CPA business now and then, when he needed help but it was never even "part-time".  He helped me with my business now and then too, but only as needed.  We worked well together.

4) Frank, Jr., was the middle child and only son. A dedicated musician, he labored in his father's long shadow and joked that he would have had an easier time if he'd chosen real estate instead of music. Tell us about your path not taken. (Examples: A career you wish you'd pursued but didn't; a person you could have married but didn't; a city you almost moved to, but changed your mind.)  I actually wanted to take drafting in high school because I thought I might like architecture.  Guess what - girls weren't allowed to take drafting (in the 60s).  Boys did shop and drafting.  Girls did home ec and child development.  I would still rather look at floor plan magazines than fashion or news magazines.

5) Unlike her father and siblings, Tina Sinatra never wanted to be a singer. She found success as a theatrical agent and, at her father's request, became involved with his business affairs. Today she helps manage the rights to Frank Sinatra's movies and music. Do you have a good head for business?  I think I do.  I had my own successful business for four years and spent most of my working years as a business manager, accountant, administrator...

6) Nancy and Frank, Jr., were born in Jersey City. By the time Tina was born, the family had relocated to Los Angeles. Did your family move around a lot when you were young?  Three times.  We moved when I was 3, and twice when I was 10 (from a rental to the home mom and dad bought).

And now, in the spirit of the season ...

7) Do you consider snow globes a holiday decoration, or do think they should be displayed all year around?  I have never been especially fond of snow globes.  I don't have one but would consider it a holiday decoration.  I guess if someone collects them and loves them, they could be out all year.  I have a friend who collects Nativity scenes (all shapes and sizes) and she has an entire cabinet full in her living room.  They are beautiful.

8) Which of Dickens' Christmas ghosts would you most enjoy spending time with: past, present or future?  I don't want to know the future ahead of time.  I have lots of warm memories from my past and don't need to revisit them.  That leaves the present.  I don't think I'm a Scrooge, though, so am not sure why I need a visit from any of those ghosts.  It is a great story and I love the movies!!

9) Have you crafted, cooked, or baked any gifts this holiday season?  Not yet, but I will be doing some baking next week.

Peace and Hugs!!

O Holy Night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.

  1. I enjoyed finding out more about Sinatra's children, Terri. Your answers, as always, are interesting, too. I think snow globes can be displayed all year long if that's something meaningful to you and your family. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I love A Christmas Carol and we watch it every year. I think I would like Christmas past, but then it might make me sad too.

  3. Having a good head for business is such a practical ability. More of us should have pursued that in school. Handled wisely, it serves one very well.

  5. I'm not at all surprised you excelled in business roles, Terri. It's not jus' for boys anymore! What a shame you weren't permitted to take drafting classes in school; it's not the same thing, but I loved Shop.
