My weekend was just right. Not too busy but I got some things done.
On Friday, I got a text from Justin Nunn asking if I could pick up their daughter Cesily from her work. I was happy to help Cheryl's (Sunlit Pathways) son and granddaughter. She works at the coffee shop near the art museum where I used to work. It gave me a chance to check out the work being done on the new addition. I don't think it fits in with the original architecture and is actually rather ugly. But... I retired from there seven years ago and my opinion doesn't matter.
It was fun catching up with Cesily and the family on the drive to their home. They moved into a much bigger house that suits them well. They are very involved in their church and the two oldest are getting ready to go to college this fall and will live on campus. I'm so happy for them!!
On Saturday, I slept in a bit (thank you cats) and decided to strip the bed to wash all the bedding. Vinny threw up on the bedspread so that was my motivation. LOL While the bed was stripped, I moved it away from the wall and cleaned cat hair. Good golly. I got it all put back together before getting in the shower.
Monika invited me, Danon and Mali for dinner at her house Saturday evening. She made a delicious spinach quiche, made rolls, and served ice cream for dessert after we played a couple of games. Always fun!
Church yesterday morning. Did my usual two loads of laundry. My neighbor, Anne, popped in for a visit. Her husband, Paul, has leukemia and has been in the hospital for several weeks, then was moved to a rehab place to get him strong enough to go home. Anne isn't able to get him up and down or in and out of the shower so that's what he has been working on. Unfortunately, he needed another blood transfusion, so is back in the hospital. If you have a prayer list, please add Paul and Anne.
Hello July. I don't have a real busy week ahead and plan to take Thursday and Friday off from work. There is a 4th celebration at the clubhouse and it's free for residents!! It's been a long time since I was able to participate so I'm excited. I'm going to sit with Dee and Bill. The Mas Verde Thursday dinner group will all be there too (not going out this week). I may be having lunch with friends on Friday. AND...
Happy birthday to my BFF, Elaine on Tuesday!! She will be officially older than me for the next six months!! Love you, Elaine!

Squealing with delight over your background here, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your BFF Elaine! And how wonderful to not have had a busy busy weekend so you are bright eyed and bushy tailed for today and your short work week! Happy for you that you can take off those days and enjoy a long holiday weekend, doing fun things with friends! Yippee!! I will say a pray for your neighbors Paul and Anne. My brother Russell died from leukemia and I know how devastating that disease is. May God give them both strength and peace for these days together. Have a blessed and beautiful week. Let Freedom Ring!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your neighbor. Praying for both of them!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice you could help out Cheryl's family, and see the addition (I agree with you that it doesn't seem to fit. Hopefully it will be better when done!)
I remember having cats and dealing with them throwing up. And they never do it on a hard surface!
Ugly is an understatement on the building. That new design is hideous but, in my opinion, that reflects our current ugly culture (fashions, language, body art, music, vehicles, etc). Kinda fitting.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your BFF. It seems every family has to deal with some form of cancer. It's so devasting.
How kind of you to help others. Well done you. We try to do that too as best we can.
Hope your day was glorious. 💙
I will certainly add Paul and Anne to my prayers, Terri. Happy Birthday to Elaine, and enjoy celebrating our nation's birthday, too!
ReplyDeleteNice weekend, Terri! I hope the Museum will, at least, brick the new addition to match the existing building? So glad Anne has neighbor friends like you to share her burdens. Caregiving's sure not for the faint of heart; prayers lifted for both she and Paul.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday blessings to Elaine ... the best is yet to come!
No bricks. Stucco from the picture I saw of how it will look.
DeleteCat barf on the bedspread is excellent incentive to wash it all. Occasionally when Gary gets into a coughing fit, I ask him with serious concern, "Do you have a hair ball?" to which he usually nods, "yes."
ReplyDeleteWell considering what they did to the Louvre -as far as architecture your museum is not doing too too bad... - had to check the spelling..... :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pink Flamingos! Just right weekend - sounds kind of nice. It was also nice your picked up your friends daughter. Sweet. Modern art doesn't always make sense - does it. You sound like you have a great four days coming up - lots of eats and friends!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the addition to the Art Museum - looks like a totally different style building. Cat barf is always yucky!!
