Wednesday's Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for today's questions!  You can join in Here!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 560

From this Side of the Pond

1. What is an adult problem nobody prepared you for?   Took me 10 years to figure out I made a mistake when I married at 19.  I was too naive to see the signs for what they were.

2. Without mentioning any tech, what's your most prized possession?  I wouldn't leave my cats behind if I had to flee (are they possessions?).  I suppose there are a few bits and pieces but at this time of my life, my health and welfare are much more important than any possession.  I won't mention phones and computers, but...

3. It's National Peach Ice Cream Day (July 17th). Will you be celebrating? Do you like peaches? Given a choice, would you prefer peach ice cream, peach pie, peach cobbler, or just hand me a peach? Do you own anything that is peach in color?  I don't have any peach ice cream, so I won't be celebrating.  I do like peaches and would love a piece of peach pie, some cobbler, or just a juicy peach right from the tree!  I have a peachy-colored t-shirt.

4. What makes a friendship successful?  trust. respect. caring.

5. Let's give our brains a rest and do a little summertime this or that...beach or pool? ice cream or snowcone? amusement park or camping? burger or hot dog? watermelon or strawberries? get up early or sleep in late? sunrise or sunsetMy answers are in red.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I had a few staple items I needed to get, to replace some things I had to toss on Saturday when I cleaned out the pantry.  I stopped at Publix on the way home from work yesterday with just five things on my list and walked out with those things plus a cart full of BOGOs that I don't need at all but am happily snacking on as I type this.  Goodbye $107.++.  Ordering from Kroger saves money because of those BOGOs.  Am I the only one who does that?

Peace and Hugs!

It was down at the feet of Jesus,
O the happy, happy day!
That my soul found peace in believing,
And my sins were washed away.

  1. Good morning. I don't think I knew you were married before. I knew you would pick your cats. lol I am from the peach state! Love peaches. I agree about friends - respect - trust - caring.
I order my groceries from Walmart. But when I go into the store I spend more. When I go to Publix - I do the same thing - the BOGO'S are hard to resist.

  2. The night of the fire, I grabbed Harvey and my phone and purse. I didn't think of listing Harvey on my own blog, but I agree with your thoughts on things at this age.

  3. I think the older I get the more I realize that things aren't so important. I do have things I treasure but mostly because of the sentiment attached to them.
I do my regular shopping online and pick it up on the way home from work and it saves me money. I know just what you mean about stopping at the store and walking out with a cart full!

  4. Sorry you had a bad first marriage too. I married way too young, too fast but in my defense, my parents kicked me out of the house right after High School graduation. I had zero confidence in myself to be alone after all the mental abuse. Took me years to overcome that but I give God the glory for any progress I've made.
My doggies would be first on the list for protection too. Then my purse, our guns, checkbooks, etc. I can move pretty quick when I need to.
    Have a blessed day! 💙

  5. It's so funny when I think about it, but we haven't had any fresh peaches here at our house this summer. Living in Georgia, how can this be??? Oh, well!
When we did have pets, I would grab them in any emergency, too. Blessings, Terri!

  6. My girls are my most prized possessions, too. No matter the sentimentality, the rest are just things. So true about Publix. I've a friend who refers to her visits as 'recreational shopping.'
    Have a blessed day!

  7. Enjoyed your Hodgepodge answers here, Terri. I got started on these same questions yesterday, had to stop for supper and today has been too busy with imperatives and now I'm outa time to do Hodgepodge.

But I did want to respond to this one: What makes a friendship successful? trust. respect. caring. (your answers) And to add on to what you've said, friendship for me requires ears -- be a good listener, don't interrupt, and when advice or counsel is needed, be kind and gentle. Please, be gentle.

  8. I go to the store with a list but almost always add more to the cart! It's hard to resist when those snacks are calling your name! :) We had a peach tree in our yard when I was growing up. During the summer we would have peaches and cream. And of course we'd also eat them right off the tree. Number 5, my answers are the same as yours except I would choose the beach.

  9. Hi Terri! We usually shop at our local Kroger store too (here it is called Smith's). We always go in person. My husband likes to do the grocery shopping. I got married at 19 too and 45 years later, I would say it has been a success. I love fresh peaches and hope we can get some here soon! I enjoyed my visit here today. See you again soon!
