Ahhhhhh... my four days off were wonderful!!
Back to work today. It will be fun because it is Keaton's birthday and Danon's first day back to work so we are celebrating with a little lunch. I think Mali will be able to pop in too. Just make your own sandwich, potato salad, chips, and cupcakes.
I already posted my 4th of July photos from the Clubhouse gathering so will start with Friday. I had lunch with Mary Jane. She is the cat-sitter when I am away. It is always interesting catching up with her. She is an African Violet expert and is in a few clubs and associations and is always in one place or another teaching and/or selling African Violets. We went to Pappas, for some Greek food.
I did a little cleaning on Friday afternoon. Saturday was just relaxing. I did some mending and sorted through some papers but the cats and I mainly just watched some TV. They let me watch whatever I want to watch!! LOL
I did do a little searching online because something sparked my interest in finding pictures of all the homes I lived in as a kid. I found them and they are still standing!!
Washington Court House, Ohio
My folks brought me home from the hospital to this house.
We lived there until I was four.
I remember Mom telling me, once, that they paid $6,000 for it.
After my brother was born, we moved to this house.
Dad got transferred from Wright Patterson Air Force Base to Newark Air Force Base. He was civilian Air Force. That transfer took us to Millersport, Ohio where we lived until all four of us kids graduated from high school. We rented a big farmhouse for the first few months we lived there (no pictures) while Mom and Dad bought this house, one block from the school and where so many happy memories were made. They paid $9,000 for it and that was 1960ish.
Sunday started with church. I had Kroger deliver groceries at 1:00 (starting to love grocery shopping that way) and I did laundry. I spoke with my son, Joey, who is off for another tour in the Middle East. I visited outside with neighbors - just quick chats (too hot for more). I have the best neighbors - so blessed. Paul is still in the hospital for those who have him on your prayer lists. Thanks!

Awesome homes you have lived in, my friend. I actually, I have driven by the 3 childhood homes I have lived in. One I pass by every day on my way to work. Have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that fun finding all those photos of previous residences?! Neat. I've lived in only 4 houses my whole life counting this one we had built. Hopefully, I won't have to move again until Jesus calls me to my permanent Home with Him. Moving is such a trial. I know some enjoy moving but I have to 'nest' and it takes me awhile to actually feel like it's home.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day! 💙
It's amazing that the homes you have lived in are still standing, Terri. The first home my parents' purchased was in 1963 when I was 8; before then, we lived in apartments. Ages ago, our neighborhood was bought out by a developer to replace the homes with condos and townhouses. I truly am living out "you can't go home again."
ReplyDeleteBlessings for a great week!
Hello! I love this post! What an awesome idea. Your homes are all beautiful, and I bet you have wonderful memories of each one. Have a cozy afternoon, my friend!
ReplyDeleteSuch neat big old houses. That last one especially was special, I can just tell. And thinking about how you were close to school and friends, etc., what a wonderful all-American small town way of life! My homes growing up were few. We had a farm in PA, where I was born and lived until I was 5+. It has since burned down, so can't go back there! We moved to Florida the summer before I turned 6 and started 1st grade. We lived in a tiny two bedroom apartment in Brooksville, FL., for a few months as we were going to build a house. But that job didn't work out for my Dad, and we moved to Tavares, where we rented two different houses over about a year, while he built our "forever home". We moved into that house when I was 7 or almost 8, and my parents lived there until they died. The house is still there, and I've shared pictures of it before. One of the two houses we rented was right behind the Eustis Drive In Theater, and we could go outside and see the movies from our back yard, but we couldn't hear them. That's all I remember about that house, and it is long gone, as is the drive-in theater. They built a Publix shopping center in that space, and I think that has changed now too. The other little house we rented might still be standing, I tried to find it one time but wasn't absolutely sure I had the right place. So much has changed in that area over the years. But thankfully the house Daddy built was out in the country and even though more houses have been built near it, it really has not changed all that much in almost 70 years.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good weekend, and I hope today was super special at work, with Danon back and a nice lunch together with everyone. Happy Days! Have a great week!
Love your little kitties. Each of your houses got bigger and bigger which is what is supposed to happen. Fun you found them - I enjoyed that. Amazing they are still there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend.
I enjoy looking at houses and the ones you've lived in are very interesting! How good of the cats to allow you to watch whatever you wanted on TV this weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, checking out your old homes! I've a habit of doing that every now and then -- mostly to make sure the current residents didn't mess with my memories (ha!). Bonus when I found one from 1970 that had gone up for sale with dozens of interior pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the internet!
PS - Thanks for updating us on Danon and Paul.
Daughter1 had to go to Columbus a few weeks ago to sort out something with their Visa, and she went by the house we lived in when she was born. It was fun to see. There wasn't a tree in sight when we bought then, as it was a brand new subdivision. There are some trees there now which was nice to see. It's hot so a day in front of the telly isn't the worst thing.
ReplyDeleteSO interesting to see all those houses! And the prices!!!! The three houses I lived in growing up are in the Manheim area, so when I go down home I drive by them from time to time. I do not know what my parents paid for them. My brother probably knew, but he died in 2021, so we can't ask him. SO many things we wish we could ask him.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the pictures of all of your homes!! I remember my mother-in-law telling us what they paid for her house (can't remember the exact number) but it is worth SO MUCH more now! All three are great but I really love that middle house!
