Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 557
2. What was the first thing you learned how to cook? Scrambled eggs. Do you prefer to cook or bake? I had my own baking business for four years (cakes) but I like cooking better than baking. Baking is a close second though.
3. What are some of your current priorities in this season of life? To stay healthy and intact! Elaborate. In no particular order... Slow down, don't fall, don't ignore twinges, and keep those regular check-ups! Trust your doctor. Have fun. Laugh. Pray. Trust Jesus!! Keep love alive in your heart! Did I say pray!
4. How much time do you spend on your hair each day or, put another way, what's your hair care routine? This naturally curly/frizzy mop just gets washed each morning and I use a little gel in it for curls. Do you get it cut regularly or just whenever the mood strikes? I get a trim every 5-6 weeks. Do you go to the same stylist every time? Joe and I went to the same barber for years and years. I recently switched when Teena had knee replacement and was out for six weeks. I've been to Laura, at a shop closer to home, three times. Think I'll keep her. I didn't "ghost" Teena. We have communicated and she is fine with my decision. (Her hubby retired and I think she will be retiring soon anyway.) Do you tell your stylist everything? More with Teena over the years but I'm still feeling out Laura. Small talk. Any other beauty treatments you indulge in throughout the year? I love a good facial but it hasn't been in my budget these past few years. I need to get one scheduled. If you haven't had a facial, get one. It's amazing!
5. What is the most awe-inspiring place you've visited? Italy. Mouth open, chin on my chest for the entire 12 days. I'm so glad we had Italy!
6. Insert your own random thought here. When did nail polish go from $2.49 a bottle to $8.99 a bottle? Good grief!! Polish doesn't last long on my nails. I'm too hard on them so I don't usually bother with them. But I thought I might have a mani-pedi before I go to Ohio in September for my nephew's wedding. I like to take my own polish so I can touch up chips and scratches (am I the only one who does that?). I saw a quiet neutral color I liked the other day, at Publix, and bought it. Revlon. $8.99. Good golly!

I liked your answer to #3. Good plan!
ReplyDeleteI envy your curls. My hair is straight and thin.
I haven't bought nail polish for some time. Everything keeps getting pricier!
Scrambled eggs might have been my first attempt at cooking too. I can't remember. We add a little Half 'n Half to ours which makes them fluffy and yummy otherwise the eggs are too plain.
ReplyDeleteWhen nail polish became so expensive I quit doing anything to my nails except trim and keep clean. I'm hard on nail polish too.
My hair is super curly but I prefer it straight. Never happy, are we?! *lol*
Have a good one. It's hot and dry here. Pray for rain please!? Thanks.
I like to have pedis but am just too hard on manis so I rarely have nail polish on my fingers. It is expensive now!!
ReplyDelete"Slow down" and "don't fall" are two of my own admonitions, too. Who'd have guessed? My son wore a size 13 shoe as early as 7th grade and was terribly self-conscious. Those in the department stores were plain u-g-l-y! I've never had a facial, but it's something I'm considering on the occasion of my next (big) birthday.
ReplyDeleteI love the Popeye quote, Terri; I used to love those cartoons when I was a kid. I used to have a great hairdresser when I got highlights done about every three months. During the pandemic, I decided to quit coloring my hair and let Danny trim it when necessary. Now, when I need a trim, I go to our local Supercuts. Both ladies I have been to are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I have been away for a few days - but I am back! lol. You are tall - tall is beautiful. (I am heavy!)
ReplyDeleteI want to stay healthy too Terry.
I pray and love Jesus too.
How cool you went to Italy! I would love to go!
So many beautiful spots to enjoy all over Europe. The cost of a mani has definitely gone up and I guess that's due to the cost of polish going up. My nails are not very strong, so I like a manicure now and then. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteScrambled eggs was my first cooking lesson, too! As for sharing with my hair stylist, it's been my experience that if I get her to talk very much, she doesn't always remember what I said about how to cut my hair (this has happened a number of times over the years). So, no, I don't share much with the one who is cutting my hair.
ReplyDeleteI am a low maintenance girl. I don’t get manicures or pedicures and wear no polish. I wear minimal makeup and pretty much only to church. My hair chooses each day how it will behave… not even kidding. I sound terrible as if I don’t care about my appearance. I do, but I like an easy routine.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like cooking, but love to bake.
