The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 554

From this Side of the Pond

1. It's National Cheese Day (June 4)...does anyone not like cheese? What's your favorite? Last thing you ate or made with cheese?   I love cheese.  Cheese is my favorite - LOL - but I guess I buy sharp cheddar most often.   I put cheese on my taco salad a couple of days ago.  The last time I made a recipe that called for cheese was the casserole I made for Mali and Danon.  Cheesy chicken, rice, and broccoli.

2. Last time you were instructed to 'say cheese!'? How do you feel about having your picture taken?   I can't remember when my picture was taken last and don't really care because I don't like having my picture taken.  It is, however, nice to be in a picture when there is a gathering of friends or family.

3. What's your travel packing strategy?  Roll it all up.  Are you typically a light packer or do you throw in everything but the kitchen sink?  I take what is needed, plus an extra or two.  When flying do you check a bag or aim for carry-on only?  I loathe flying but prefer to not have to check a bag.

4. What is it about people's cell phone habits that you find most annoying?  Paying attention to the phone instead of enjoying the company.  Also, when someone is obviously texting at a light and don't see that the red light changed to green.  Put the phones away, for goodness sake.  Nothing is that important!!

5. What will be your summer mantra/slogan?  Turn away, hurricane.  Turn away, hurricane.  Turn away, hurricane.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am (for the third time) streaming The Durrells of Corfu on PBS.  Such a fun series, based on a real family, and so well done.  Set just before WWII.  A British family moves to Greece when the husband has died and they need to find a cheap place to live and a way to start over.   A totally dysfunctional family that you can't help but love.

Peace and Hugs!

A Parable

The cheese-mites asked how the cheese got there,
And warmly debated the matter;
The Orthodox said that it came from the air,
And the Heretics said from the platter.
They argued it long and they argued it strong,
And I hear they are arguing now;
But of all the choice spirits who lived in the cheese,
Not one of them thought of a cow.

– Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

  1. Gouda is my favorite cheese because it's well good-a. lol
    Inattentive drivers are becoming a hazard. They wander all over the road, run into the back of parked vehicles, and won't get going when the light changes. I think they might be on mind altering medications as well as being distracted by technology. Seems to be so prevalent now.
    I've tried watching the Durrell's but couldn't get into it. I'll try again but with Closed Caption. It helps if I can understand what they're saying.
    Have a great day! 💙

  2. I'm not a fan of having my picture taken either, but I agree that t's good to be in the gathering.
    Cell phones are both a blessing and a curse. It's so frustrating to be with someone who keeps checking their phone. And I hate seeing people out for supper with one of them on the phone all the time.

  3. I haven't been following the weather news too much. I hope one is not headed your way! I haven't seen the show you mentioned so might look for it. I don't enjoy flying either. Stay safe in the bad weather!

    Hard YES to "turn away, hurricane"! (Worst-case scenario, you're always welcome to evac here. 💛)
