I had a nice, quiet weekend that just felt so good! Work went fine on Friday. Gasoline prices are down a bit so I filled up on the way home. I puttered around but did not much of anything the rest of the day.
On Saturday, I slept in a bit and then got up facing a house that needed a major cleaning. I rarely move furniture to clean behind but did Saturday and I still can't get over the cat hair that gets left by my two orange cats. The main areas got a good cleaning but I neglect my room all the time. It's on the back burner. With artificial knees and back pain, getting down to the baseboards and into the corners and behind and under heavy furniture isn't easy. I'll hire it done one of these days, and bear the embarrassment of how bad it is behind the dressers and under the bed. Please be kind and tell me I'm not the only one who procrastinates like that?!
Sunday was church (communion Sunday), laundry, and working on a grocery list. It's time to visit Kroger.com again. I have a busy week ahead. Vinny goes to the Vet for his annual shots on Tuesday. Kroger gets delivered on Wednesday. I go to the Podiatrist on Thursday. I am hosting Danon, Mali, and Monika for dinner on Friday evening!! I asked Mali if Danon was up for an outing yet, and got "YES!!!" back as the answer! Saturday, I've mentioned before, is my trip down to Punta Gorda for lunch with the Grands. I'm looking forward to it all!!
Happy birthday, today, to my son Jeff!!
Sometimes the best weekends are the "down time" ones! Vegging out....though it doesn't include housework...
ReplyDeleteYes, a slow weekend is nice. Especially when it's so hot! And yes, I understand the cleaning situation. It is hard for me to get the deep cleaning done and it always leaves me hurting for a few days. Hubby does help some, but somehow he doesn't see the dust balls and dirt like I do...and since we got rid of carpet in the majority of the house, the dust balls do show up frequently, and we don't have cats! We do have two grandpups who come to visit often, so I try to dust mop after they've been here, but we also track in a lot of sand because we don't have any paved driveway or sidewalks and mostly have dirt and oak leaves/acorns for a yard! LOL. It's a constant battle of sweeping and dust mopping and when I get really desperate, I wet mop everything...but that just takes so much arm/shoulder/back muscles and then I hurt...so it's a vicious cycle. Getting old isn't for sissies. I wish I could afford a good housekeeper! Happy Birthday to your son Jeff!!
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was quiet too but I was going to post something anyway so everyone won't think I'm dead or quit blogging. *lol* You're not the only one who procrastinates like that. Never look under our furniture! Have a great week. 💙
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday blessings to Jeff! Unfortunately, both Tom and I can relate to the cleaning situation. Tom wanted me to order these ugly knee pads construction folk wear ... but I'm holding out for one of those collapsible gardening benches with sides to pull myself back up again. (Not that I'm intending to do any gardening!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Jeff!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's not easy with bad knees and I have those places in my house too.
I'm so glad Danon is doing well enough to get out. You have a great weekend to look forward to.
You are NOT the only one who procrastinates about that cleaning! I do have someone come in once or twice a month to help me battle the dustbunnies. I run the Roomba every week and Mark sweeps often. It sounds like your nice slow weekend was JUST Perfect!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Jeff. Boy, can I relate to that cleaning issue - with artificial hips and knees. Gosh you are really going to have a busy week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Jeff!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not the only one who can't get down on your knees, Terri. I still have "real" knees, but they don't work like they used to. That's why we have a cleaning lady come once a month. It helps us so much!
Blessings!
June is always a busier month for me with birthdays and other events but I am ready for some slow weekends. Sounds really nice and no you are not alone with animal hair. It is always going to be there, but those little guys are worth it in my book.
ReplyDeleteWith the week you've got ahead it's good you got plenty of rest over the weekend!! No, you're not the only one, I too would be embarrassed if I had someone come in and do the 'behind it all' cleaning. Wasn't always that way, but recently . . . well let's just say, getting old ain't for sissies!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound boring to me! Low key can be good too. We have a dog and while he's not the worst shedder there is always dog hair somewhere in my house. The price of having a pet I guess. Have a nice week Terri!
