The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thanks to Joyce for this first Hodgepodge of the year!!  You can join in HERE.

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 532

From this Side of the Pond

1. Every January 1st since 1976 Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English. Words may be banished due to misuse, overuse or just general uselessness (go here to read more about how the words were chosen). Here are the words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2024-

hack, impact, at the end of the day, rizz, slay, iconic, cringe worthy, obsessed, side hustle, wait for it

Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Are any of these a regular part of your speech? Is there a word not on the list that you'd like to add? I don't use any of these often, nor do I really hear them being used.  I don't have any feelings about them, one way or another.

2. What do you wish you'd done more of last year? Less of?  What I WISH I'd done more of vs what I SHOULD have done more of... I watch too much TV so less of that.  I should have done more cleaning and I wish I had done a little more traveling - long weekends, etc.  I have gotten quite comfortable being in slug-mode.

3. A place you'd like to visit in this new year? Do you think you will? I would like to do a road trip and visit some of you blogging friends along the way.  I really think I will, so get ready!

4.What are three words to sum up or describe your 2023? Blessed. Lazy. Content.

5. What advice would you like to give yourself as we begin a new year?  Get moving!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am puppy-sitting today (Tuesday), as I write this blog for tomorrow.  Cheryl and Pat are off with the kids and I offered to keep Toby for them.  He is SO CUTE!!  The cats aren't pleased but Toby doesn't care!! LOL  He weighs about three pounds.  The cats are five times that!!
I have to work eight hours today (Wednesday) to start making up for having Monday and Tuesday off.   It will be a long day for me!  Not sure what Cheryl and family will be doing.

Peace and Hugs!

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

  1. I would never describe you as a "slug"! You're more of a go getter than me. Being able to go back to work at this time of life must be a challenge and you've done that with panache. I'd say well done you instead of calling you lazy! No way!
Toby is adorable. I like fuzzy faces. *lol*
    Have a blessed day. xx

  2. Those aren't words I use often either. I don't think I've ever heard rizz used.
    Toby is so cute!
I think you need to make it to Michigan on your road trip, although I know that would be a long one! :)

  3. Toby is adorable! Don't get too attached! LOL. That road trip sounds like fun. If I were able to do such a trip, I would love it. But hubby doesn't really like to drive that much anymore, so when we do travel anywhere distant, the kids go with us and do a lot of the driving (Benton, that is). I'm not a great long distance driver either, but if I could afford to stop at inexpensive places along the way, that would help! I do hope you will be able to take your road trip this year! That's a good goal to have! I don't use those words or phrases either that I can think of. I really don't even hear them that often. We must not get out much. LOL. Have a blessed and wonderful week, and I will pray for you as you work these longer days. You are amazing, and definitely NOT a slug!!!

  4. Hi Terri: 2023 was a hard year with my husband being so ill but I am happy I am able to say we made it. In the new year we plan on visiting many museums.
I wish I had stitched and beaded more last year.
Love this little adorable baby you are sitting for, so cute, that face is adorable.

  7. Toby is certainly a love, Terri, and I'm glad you had the opportunity to dog-sit for him. Sorry about the long workday, but I know you'll make it through. If you are ever up Georgia way, I would so love to see you! Who knows? We might actually make it down your way this year!

  9. That Toby is one of the cutest things I've ever seen! None of those word choices strike a chord for me, either ... but I'd be hard-pressed to name something else. "Rights" perhaps?
I'd love to be planning a road trip of my own, but right now Tom's health precludes doing anything. I'd love to see your face at my door sometime!
