My neighbor, Susan, and I took off at 9:00 a.m. Saturday for Mayfaire by-the-Lake. This year, 176 artists had 182 booths around Lakeland's beautiful Lake Morton (the bird/swan sanctuary). Polk Museum of Art hosts this event which is a fund-raiser for the Museum but is also a huge community event that thousands look forward to every year. It is always Mother's Day weekend. I worked Mayfaire for the 20 years I worked at the Museum and it is nice to just be a regular visitor now. Lake Morton is one mile around so it's a nice hike which I did not do! Thankfully, there were golf carts and pick-up points. Susan and I did the first half, took a cart to the beginning on the other side of the lake, and then did that half. Picture overload follows. I just took photos of some of the art that I liked or thought was fun.

At church yesterday, all the women were offered a pink carnation. So pretty and such a nice gesture. I heard from both of my 'boys' but spent a quiet Sunday at home. Did my two loads of laundry and I did order Chinese food to be delivered. That was my present to myself. Kung Pao Chicken. I didn't eat the rice! I also talked to my sister, Patti.
Thanks for your visits and comments!!

I love art shows...and I did forget all about Mayfaire. Maybe next year, smiles. We had hotdogs and sweet potato fries for dinner, nothing fancy. smiles --wishing you a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteGlad it was good weather... just thinking if... :)
ReplyDeleteWe only had rain a few times during my time at the Museum and only one problem with a storm that did damage some art. Lucky most years!!
DeleteAren't food trucks great fun? This year's Mayfaire looks like such a good time. Such creativity, huh? But, my favorite's that tree. Wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteWow! I haven't been to a big art festival in years and I would go crazy there. Sure were lots of beautiful works of art! Glad you had a good day...I did too! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful art festival. That's a LOT of amazing artists there! Very talented folks. Glad you were able to go and just enjoy it and not have to work it! Your Mother's Day afternoon sounds peaceful. Chinese takeout sounds good too. I haven't had that in a long time, even tho we do have a little Chinese takeout place here in town. Maybe I need to add it to the list, although the last time we did order there we realized the prices had gone up considerably, so maybe that's why we haven't been back. Oh well, once in a while wouldn't hurt too much. Have a blessed and wonderful week,
ReplyDeleteYour wonderful photos made me feel that I was right there with you, Terri. Some of the art work is truly breathtaking. I'm glad you had an amazing, rewarding time at the Mayfaire.
ReplyDeleteSo much beautiful art! I'm glad you had fun with Susan checking out all that talent.
ReplyDeleteChinese sounds so good - I haven't had it for some time.
Have a great week!
That looked like a really nice art fair. Did you buy anything? I would have bought one of those swans - they were so beautiful. Is it hot there?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is hot (we are in the low 90s daily) and I only bought a smoothie.
DeleteSo many pretty things I would have wanted to come home with! I admit I'm a sucker for the flamingos...and Leah is just like me, liking them already. I'm glad you had such a good time with Susan.
